Billy McCaffrey (born May 30, 1971) is an American former basketball player. He is also the former interim head coach at St. Bonaventure University. [1]
McCaffrey attended Allentown Central Catholic High School in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where he played in the 1989 McDonald's All-American Game.
McCaffrey began his college career at Duke University. As a sophomore, he was the team's second leading scorer during its 1991 NCAA championship season. He scored 16 points in the 1991 title game win over Kansas. McCaffrey then sat out the 1991–92 season as he transferred to Vanderbilt University.
As a Commodore, McCaffrey was named a two-time All-American. A 6'3" shooting guard, he averaged 20.6 points in both his seasons at Vanderbilt, leading the school to a high national ranking of number 5, an SEC regular season title with a 14–2 record, and number 3 regional seed in the 1993 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament where Vanderbilt lost in the Sweet 16s to Temple. His 20.6-point average and .464 three-point field goal percentage ranks second all time in school history, and he is first in career free throw percentage at 88%. He also holds the Vanderbilt record for most assists in a game, 14, recorded January 13, 1993 against Kentucky. He shared SEC Player of the Year honors with Jamal Mashburn in 1993.
Following his college career, he went on to play five seasons of professional basketball in Italy, Germany and Australia. He played the 1996 season with the South East Melbourne Magic of the NBL.
McCaffrey was an assistant coach with St. Bonaventure University from 2001 to 2003 under his coach as a senior at Vanderbilt, Jan van Breda Kolff, and interim head coach in 2003 but he never coached a game. He was a University of Maine assistant coach for the 2003–04 season. [2]
McCaffrey's older brother Ed is a former star American football wide receiver for the New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos where he won three Super Bowls. He was also a standout athlete at Allentown Central Catholic High School and Stanford University. His nephews are Max, Christian, Dylan and Luke.
Robert Jerry Lanier Jr. was an American professional basketball player. He played center for the Detroit Pistons and the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Lanier was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1992.

He played college football for the Stanford Cardinal, earning first-team All-America honors in 1990.

Stephen Michael Lavin is an American men's college basketball coach and broadcaster who is the head coach of the San Diego Toreros of the West Coast Conference (WCC). He previously served as head coach of the St. John's Red Storm and UCLA Bruins. In eleven full seasons as a head coach, Lavin had led teams to ten postseason appearances, highlighted by eight NCAA Tournament berths, an Elite Eight ('97), five NCAA Regional semifinals and nine campaigns of twenty or more wins. Lavin has also been a broadcaster for Fox Sports, CBS Sports and Pac-12 Network.
Dana "Pokey" Chatman is currently an assistant coach for the Seattle Storm in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Chatman is the former head coach of the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky of the WNBA. Matthew Wayne Freije is a Lebanese/ American former professional basketball player. Freije attended Shawnee Mission West High School in Overland Park, Kansas before attending Vanderbilt University where he was an All-SEC performer. He was selected 53rd overall in the 2004 NBA draft by the Miami Heat, was then released and later played for the New Orleans Hornets. He played 19 games for the Atlanta Hawks during the 2006–07 season but was waived in December 2006 to clear a roster spot for Slava Medvedenko.

Jan van Breda Kolff is an American former college and professional basketball player and college basketball head coach. The son of coach Butch van Breda Kolff and grandson of Dutch soccer player Jan van Breda Kolff, he played from 1974 to 1976 for the Denver Nuggets, Kentucky Colonels, and Virginia Squires in the American Basketball Association, and the New York/New Jersey Nets in the National Basketball Association. From 1970 to 1974 he played for Vanderbilt University, and in 1974 he led the Commodores to a Southeastern Conference championship as SEC Player of the Year.
Kevin E. Stallings is a former American basketball coach, who formerly served as the head coach at Illinois State University, Vanderbilt University and the University of Pittsburgh. He was an assistant coach at Purdue University and the University of Kansas.

He played college football for the Duke Blue Devils and signed with the Oakland Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2016. A member of the McCaffrey football family, he is the son of Ed and older brother of Christian and Luke.
