Brent Erick Vigen (born March 19, 1975) is an American football coach and former player. Vigen is currently the head coach for the Montana State Bobcats. He was previously the associate head coach and offensive coordinator at the University of Wyoming. He has spent the majority of his coaching career on Craig Bohl's staffs.

Playing career

Vigen was a member of three NCAA Division II playoff teams (1994, 1995, and 1997) during his career at North Dakota State from 1993 through 1997. [1] He played tight end and was a two-year starter. [2]

Coaching career

North Dakota State

Following his playing career, Vigen joined the coaching staff at North Dakota State as a graduate assistant for Bob Babich from 1998 to 2000. In 2001, he was promoted to a full-time position, coaching the tight ends in 2001 and the quarterbacks in 2002. New head coach Craig Bohl assigned Vigen as the running backs coach for the 2003 season, before promoting him to passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2004 to 2008. Prior to the 2009 season, Vigen was again promoted, this time to offensive coordinator. Vigen remained in this role through the 2013 season, when he followed Bohl to a new opportunity. [1]

Wyoming

When Bohl was hired as the new head coach at Wyoming, Vigen went with him as Bohl's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. In the spring of 2017, Vigen was promoted to associate head coach. [1]

When North Dakota State head coach Chris Klieman left to become the head coach at Kansas State, Vigen was widely considered a candidate to replace Klieman as the head coach at North Dakota State, but ultimately he remained at Wyoming, and North Dakota State's defensive coordinator, Matt Entz, was promoted. Montana State

In February 2021, Vigen got his first head coaching job as the head coach at Montana State, replacing Jeff Choate. [5]

Personal life

Vigen and his wife, Molly, have three sons: Jake, Grant, and Luke. Molly played basketball at North Dakota State and was a member of the 1996 NCAA Division II National Championship team. [2]

Craig Philip Bohl is a retired American college football coach and former player. Prior to announcing his retirement from coaching at the conclusion of the 2023 football season, he was the head football coach at the University of Wyoming for 10 seasons. Before being hired in Laramie, he was the head coach at North Dakota State University in Fargo from 2003 to 2013, where he led the Bison to three consecutive NCAA Division I Football Championships in his final three seasons.

Brent Richard Pease is an American football coach and former player. He was hired in 2018 at the University of Montana as the Offensive coordinator and quarterback coach. He was previously the offensive coordinator at UTEP, the wide receivers coach at the University of Washington and the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the University of Florida.

Scott Gregory Hazelton is an American football coach. He was recently the defensive coordinator at Michigan State University. The 2013 North Dakota State Bison football team represented North Dakota State University in the 2013 NCAA Division I FCS football season. They were led by head coach Craig Bohl, in his 11th and ultimately final season, as he left to become the head coach at Wyoming after the season. The team, which played their 21st season in the Fargodome, entered the season as the two-time defending national champions. The Bison have been members of the Missouri Valley Football Conference since the 2008 season.

Jacob Dickert is an American college football coach. He is the head coach at Washington State University. Prior to this, he served as defensive coordinator in Pullman, beginning in 2020. Dickert attended school and played football at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point, and has coached at various colleges and universities since his graduation in 2007.

A. J. Cooper is an American football coach and former tight end. He has been an assistant coach for various college football programs since 2006. He currently is the Linebackers coach for Arizona State.

The 2019 Missouri Valley Football Conference season was the 34th season of college football play for the Missouri Valley Football Conference and part of the 2019 NCAA Division I FCS football season. This was the MVFC's 8th consecutive season with 10 teams, and would be their last for now as they added North Dakota in the following offseason.

The 2024 North Dakota State Bison football team will represent North Dakota State University as a member of the Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) during the 2024 NCAA Division I FCS football season. The Bison will be led by first-year head coach Tim Polasek. Polasek joins the Bison after being an offensive coordinator at NDSU, Iowa, and most recently - Wyoming. Polasek will be assisted by first year offensive coordinator Jake Landry, who joins the Bison from St. Thomas, as well as co-defensive coordinators Grant Olson and Nick Goeser. The Bison play home games at the Fargodome in Fargo, North Dakota.

The 2024 Missouri Valley Football Conference season will be the 39th season of college football play for the Missouri Valley Football Conference and part of the 2024 NCAA Division I FCS football season. This will be the MVFC's first season returning to 11 teams, and its 4th in the last 5 seasons.
