Carson Hinzman is an American football center for the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Hinzman is from Hammond, Wisconsin where he attended Saint Croix Central High School located in his hometown of Hammond. [1] In Hinzman's senior season, he notched 54 tackles with 16 going for a loss, and two sacks. For his performance in his senior year, he was named the Wisconsin state small school defensive player of the year. [2] Hinzman would decide to commit to play college football at the Ohio State University over Wisconsin. [3] [4]
In Hinzman's first year in 2022 he would reshirt and not appear in any games. [5] During the spring and summer practices in 2023, Hinzman competead for the starting center job with Louisiana-Monroe transfer Victor Culter. [6] [7] Ultimately, Hinzman would earn the Buckeyes starting center job and opened the season as the starter for their week one matchup versus Indiana. [8] [9]
Luke Joseph Fickell is an American football coach and former player. He is the current head coach of the Wisconsin Badgers. Previously he was the head football coach at the University of Cincinnati, a position he held from 2016 through November 2022. Fickell played college football as a nose guard at Ohio State University from 1993 to 1996 and then was an assistant coach for the Buckeyes. He was interim head coach at Ohio State for the entire 2011 season.

The Buckeyes played their home games at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. The Buckeyes finished the season undefeated with 12 wins, Big Ten Leaders Division champions and ranked third in the AP Poll. Due to findings of an investigation conducted by the NCAA during the previous season, Ohio State was ineligible for both the Big Ten Championship Game and an appearance in a bowl game for the 2012 season.

The Buckeyes finished the regular season with an undefeated record for the second consecutive year, as well as Big Ten Leaders Division champions for the second consecutive year. They finished the season with a record of 12 wins and 2 losses, following losses to Michigan State in the Big Ten Championship Game and to Clemson in the Orange Bowl.

Winning 14 games in a season tied the school record set by the Buckeyes' previous national champion team.
