Centric is the official student magazine of the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida, United States. [1] It is freely available on the university's campuses and online. [2]

Contents

The magazine is published biannually in the fall and spring by students and faculty of the Nicholson School of Communication, which is a part of UCF's College of Sciences. [3] The first issue of the magazine was published in the Spring of 2011. [4]

Content

Centric's content is primarily targeted to cater for its student demographic, and often examines innovative, interesting, or provocative people in the UCF community, such as students, faculty, and alumni. It often explores the unique programs of the university, such as Knightro and the Pegasus, and the daily lives of those in the UCF community. [5] The magazine is advertised as "100 percent created and produced by students, for students." [1]

Addition Financial Arena

Addition Financial Arena is a sports and entertainment arena located in Orlando, Florida, United States, on the main campus of the University of Central Florida. It was constructed beginning in 2006 as a replacement for the original UCF arena, and as a part of Knights Plaza. The arena is home to the UCF Knights men's and women's basketball teams. The arena also hosted the annual Science Olympiad in 2012 and 2014.

UCF Knights

The UCF Knights are the athletic teams that represent the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida. The Knights participate in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) Division I as a member of the American Athletic Conference. UCF was invited to join the Big 12 Conference on September 10, 2021, and accepted the invitation later that day. It is anticipated the Knights could join as soon as the 2023–24 athletic year pending negotiation of departure terms with the American Athletic Conference.

Knightro

Knightro is the official mascot of the University of Central Florida, and its sports teams, the Knights. Knightro debuted in 1994, and appears at UCF sporting events and also appears at UCF-related functions. He occasionally uses a custom go-kart designed and built by UCF Engineering students and other members of UCF Athletics, dubbed "Pegasus 1." He has previously used a custom car designed and built by UCF Engineering students dubbed "Chariot II."

The Central Florida Future was the independent weekly student newspaper of the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida. The Future was one of the largest student-run newspapers in the United States, with a circulation of 14,000 and readership of over 30,000. It was a member of the USA Today network.

The University of Central Florida College of Engineering and Computer Science is an academic college of the University of Central Florida located in Orlando, Florida, United States. The college offers degrees in engineering, computer science and management systems, and houses UCF's Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. University of Central Florida student housing

The residence hall system at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida is administered by the Department of Housing and Residence Life. The Citronaut was the first mascot of Florida Technological University (FTU), which later became the University of Central Florida (UCF). The mascot appeared on the first student handbook in 1968–1969. After one year, students petitioned the Student Government to establish a new mascot for the university. In 1970, students approved "Knights of the Pegasus" as the second official university mascot, which remains to this day.
