History

Change was established in Singapore in 2016 by Kristjan Kangro, an Estonian technology entrepreneur and an investor, and Gustav Liblik. [6] [7] [8] [9] Change secured its first angel investor in the beginning of the same year, Roger Crook (former CEO of German delivery and express mail company DHL). [10] [11] [12]

In 2017, Change raised an additional $17.5 million through it first crowdfunding round. [13] [14] [15] [16]

In 2018, Change moved its headquarters from Singapore to Tallinn, Estonia [17] [18] and was named among the top fintech companies in Europe. [19]

In 2021 the company raised €3.7 crowdfunding round in 2021 that saw a buy-in from 50 private investors and Change was valued €175 million. [2] [12] [20]

The following year, Change opened an office in Singapore. [21]

In April 2023, Change raised €2 million from Andromeda Capital Partners Suisse. [22] In August 2023, Andromeda Capital acquired a 51% majority stake in Change Group. [23] [24] [25] [26] [27]

Operations

Change is a licensed multi-asset brokerage under E.U. directive, reports to the Estonian Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) and Dutch regulator (AFM), and offers banking deposits and withdrawals through established E.U. bank partners. [1] [12] [28]

Based in Jerusalem, the company launched in February 2013, and has since opened overseas branches in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Spain, Singapore, Brazil, and the UAE.

HTX is a Seychelles-based cryptocurrency exchange. Founded in China as Huobi, the company now has offices in Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan and the United States. In August 2018 it became a publicly listed Hong Kong company.

An initial coin offering (ICO) or initial currency offering is a type of funding using cryptocurrencies. In an ICO, a quantity of cryptocurrency is sold in the form of "tokens" ("coins") to speculators or investors, in exchange for legal tender or other cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin or Ether. The tokens are promoted as future functional units of currency if or when the ICO's funding goal is met and the project successfully launches.

Offering protection from identity fraud and identity theft, Veriff verifies a customer's identity automatically, using an AI that analyzes a multitude of technological and behavioural indicators, including facial recognition. The service is provided to companies as an API, which has been compared to Stripe.

Hodlnaut is a Singapore-based cryptocurrency lending and borrowing platform that lost 69% of the cryptocurrencies that users deposited onto the platform.

Bitkub is a Thailand-based cryptocurrency exchange, operated by Bitkub Online Co., Ltd. under its parent group Bitkub Capital Group Holdings. It was founded in 2018 by Jirayut Srupsrisopa, and was among the first exchanges to receive a digital asset license from the country's Securities and Exchange Commission, in 2019. It claims to be the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the country, with a share of 90% of crypto transactions based on 2021 data from regulated exchanges. In November 2021, SCB announced that it would acquire a 51-percent stake in the company for 17.85 billion baht, valuing the company at over $1 billion and making it one of Thailand's first unicorn start-up companies. However, on 25th August 2022, the deal was cancelled. The SCB stated that the reason for cancellation was due to Bitkub's ongoing lawsuit with Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission for the alleged involvement in wash and inside trading.
