Christopher Clenshaw (born 29 September 1986) is an English television producer, known for serving as the current executive producer of the BBC soap opera EastEnders since 2022.

Life and career

Early life and television production work

Christopher Clenshaw was born on 29 September 1986 in Gravesend, Kent to Helen (née Antoniou) and Alfred Clenshaw and has a twin sister, Georgina. [1] [2] He began his career in television production working as an edit assistant on the BBC Three factual programme Freaky Eaters , before becoming a runner and ultimately head researcher on Richard & Judy between 2008 and 2009. [3] He then worked as a shooting researcher on various shows including Local Food Hero , 3@Three and One Night Stand with Ne-Yo. In 2010, Clenshaw joined the ITV daytime programme This Morning , initially as a researcher before going on to hold an array of positions within their production team including edit producer, assistant producer and digital producer prior to his departure from the programme in 2015. EastEnders

In July 2015, Clenshaw joined the BBC soap opera EastEnders as a writer and storyliner, before being promoted to script editor and ultimately story producer, before he left the role in January 2019 to become the producer of the BBC medical drama Holby City . [4] [5] In November 2021, Clenshaw was announced as the new executive producer of EastEnders. [2] [6] [7] Clenshaw took over from Jon Sen, and his first credited episode as executive producer was episode 6497, originally broadcast on 2 June 2022 and featured cameos from Charles, Prince of Wales and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall as part of the Platinum Jubilee of Elizabeth II celebrations. [8] [9] [10] During his tenure, Clenshaw has overseen the returns of Alfie Moon (Shane Richie), Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) and Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer), the recasts of Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd), Freddie Slater (Bobby Brazier), Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) and Penny Branning (Kitty Castledine), the departure of Mick Carter (Danny Dyer), as well as the reintroduction of Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins), who returned from the dead after 25 years. For her portrayal of Kat, she has won seventeen awards including Most Popular Newcomer at the National Television Awards and the British Soap Award for Best Newcomer in 2001, Most Popular Actress at the National Television Awards in 2003 and the British Soap Award for Best Actress in 2011. Alfie Moon is a fictional character from the BBC drama EastEnders, played by Shane Richie. He made his first appearance on 21 November 2002, and left on 25 December 2005. He returned on 21 September 2010, following the return of his on-screen wife, Kat Slater, two episodes previously, and they continued to feature until 22 May 2015. Alfie appeared in a guest stint between 26 December 2015 and 25 January 2016, before starring in the six-part drama spin-off series Kat & Alfie: Redwater in 2017. Richie returned for two short stints in 2018, concluding with his exit on 22 January 2019. Richie then made a virtual cameo appearance on 12 July 2022, followed by a permanent return from 12 September 2022.

Cindy Beale is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera EastEnders, played by Michelle Collins. She first appeared 10 May 1988 and originally departed on 27 December 1990, before returning as one of the show's central antagonists from 13 October 1992 until her exit episode on 10 April 1998; the character supposedly died off-screen during childbirth on 5 November 1998. During her first stint on the show, Cindy embarked on a prolonged relationship with her would-be husband Ian Beale. Their marriage soon deteriorated, however, due to Cindy's selfish streak that shows the character becoming unfaithful to Ian and growing more concerned about her own needs than their own children. She lies and schemes to ensure that she gets what she wants.

Jon Sen is a British television and film director, writer and producer. After working as the executive producer of the BBC soap opera EastEnders from 2019 to 2022, Sen began working as the executive producer of the BBC medical drama series Casualty in 2022.

Bryan Kirkwood is a British television producer. He was the producer of the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks from 2006 until 2009 and was the executive producer of the BBC soap EastEnders from 2010 until 2012. He returned as the executive producer of Hollyoaks in late 2012, before leaving again in March 2021. His final episodes aired in June of that year. In 2022, he returned to EastEnders as a writer.

She began her career working as a researcher and editorial assistant for Germaine Greer, before becoming a script editor for the soap opera Crossroads. In 2003, she joined the radio soap The Archers as a producer, a position which Oates credits as the majority of her training. After resigning from this job, Oates began working on the ITV soap opera Emmerdale as a script editor, during which time she assisted with the soap's fortieth anniversary celebrations and worked on British Soap Award-winning storylines. She remained in the position until 2012 when she joined Coronation Street as the assistant producer.

<i>Holby City</i> (series 21) Season of television series

The twenty-first series of the British medical drama television series Holby City began Airing on BBC One on 2 January 2019 in the United Kingdom. The series consists of 53 episodes. Kate Hall acts as the series producer for episode one and was replaced by Jane Wallbank from the following episode; Simon Harper is the executive producer. The series is billed as an anniversary year for the drama as it celebrates twenty years since its launch. The series also features a crossover episode with sister show Casualty, an episode written by the show's co-creator Tony McHale and the show's 1000th episode, due to be broadcast in November 2019. Thirteen actors reprise their roles from the previous series and former cast members return for guest stints throughout the series. Three new regular characters were also introduced, while Nic Jackman was promoted to the main cast in his role as foundation doctor Cameron Dunn.

Dana Monroe is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera EastEnders, played by Barbara Smith. Smith auditioned for the role over Zoom due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on television and was cast as Dana, a love interest for established character Bobby Beale, making her first appearance on 1 April 2021. She was initially cast in a 6-month guest stint, but was promoted to a regular cast member and had her family introduced to the soap. She was overjoyed to have been cast due to having been a fan of the soap since her youth. Dana has been shown to be a bubbly, generous and likeable character. Smith was initially unsure if viewers would like her, but critics have said that it has been refreshing to have a character with good intentions on EastEnders. It was announced on 10 June 2022 that Smith had been axed by new executive producer Chris Clenshaw, with Dana set to exit the show later in the year. Smith admitted that it was fitting for Dana to leave as she was of university age and was excited for her final scenes to air. She also confirmed that if she was asked, she would return to the soap in the future. Dana's final scenes aired on 1 September 2022.
