Synopsis

The film is about a university student (Moremi Oluwa) who speaks out after a university professor attempts to rape her, and the reaction of the university institution to the claims. The film is broadly based on true events.

According to the cast and crew, Citation rose to the sixth-most popular film on Netflix shortly after its release, and was most-watched on Netflix in Nigeria. [3]

Digital Spy 's Nelson C.J. wrote that the subject matter of Citation was important to discuss, and treated with an "objective and sufficiently informed" perspective within the film. C.J. praised the cinematography, but found that the dialogue could have been improved and the main character given more depth. [4] Tambay Obenson of IndieWire praised the film as an "unflinching wakeup call that extends well beyond Nigeria's borders". [5] The movie won the best international film awards at the national film awards. [6]

Kunle Afolayan is a Nigerian actor, producer and director. He is widely credited for elevating the quality of Nollywood movies through larger budgets, shooting on 35mm, releasing in cinemas, and improving cliché Nollywood storylines. Mokalik is a 2019 Nigerian bilingual comedy drama film produced and directed by veteran filmmaker Kunle Afolayan. The film stars newcomer Toni Afolayan in the male lead role along with Femi Adebayo. The film had its theatrical release on 31 May 2019 and received extremely positive reviews from critics while also performing well at the box office. Ayinla is a musical eponymous film based on the life of Ayinla Yusuf popularly known as Ayinla Omowura, an Apala musician who was stabbed to death by his manager named Bayewu in a bar fight on 6 May 1980 at Abeokuta. The film premiered on 13 June 2021 in Lagos and was released to theatres on 18 June 2021. Directed by Tunde Kelani, the film was set in the 1970s and early 1980s and shot in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The film was written by Tunde Babalola and was released to Netflix on 13th, October 2023. The movie stars Gabriel Afolayan, Adunni Ade, Ex BBNaija star, Dorathy Bachor, Sam Dede, Femi Branch, Yemi Sodimu, Bimbo Manuel, Yemi Solade and a host of others. The film was shot in Oyo State, in the KAP Film Village and Resort.
