Rockwell International was a major American manufacturing conglomerate involved in aircraft, the space industry, defense and commercial electronics, components in the automotive industry, printing presses, avionics and industrial products. Rockwell International's predecessor was Rockwell Manufacturing Company, founded in 1919 by Willard Rockwell. In 1968, Rockwell Manufacturing Company included 7 operating divisions manufacturing industrial valves, German 2-cycle motors, power tools, gas and water meters. In 1973, it was combined with the aerospace products and renamed Rockwell International. At its peak, Rockwell International was No. 27 on the Fortune 500 list, with assets of over $8 billion, sales of $27 billion and 115,000 employees.

In 2001, the avionics division of Rockwell International was spun off to form the current Rockwell Collins, Inc, retaining its name.

John Frederick Collins was an American lawyer who served as the mayor of Boston from 1960 to 1968. Collins was a lawyer who served in the Massachusetts Legislature from 1947 to 1955. He and his children caught polio during a 1955 outbreak. He was reliant on a wheelchair and crutches the rest of his life. After partially recovering, he ran for mayor in 1959 as an underdog. He successfully portrayed himself as outside corrupt "machine politics" and was elected.

Kiffin Yates Rockwell was an early aviator and the first American pilot to shoot down an enemy aircraft in World War I. On May 18, 1916, Rockwell attacked and shot down a German plane over the Alsace battlefield. For this action he was awarded the Médaille militaire and the Croix de guerre.

Robert Allan Sturgell is a former Acting Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), having served from September 14, 2007, to January 15, 2009. Appointed to the position on September 14, 2007, by President George W. Bush, he was never confirmed by the U.S. Senate. Prior to his appointment, he had served as Deputy Administrator of the FAA since 2003.
Foster Haven Rockwell was an All-American football player and hotelier. A native of Vermont, Rockwell played football at Yale University and was selected as the quarterback on the 1902 College Football All-America Team and was a member of Skull and Bones. He later served the head football coach at Yale in 1906, leading the team to a national championship. He also coached football at the United States Naval Academy. In 1911, Rockwell moved to Arizona where he owned and operated the Hotel Adams in Phoenix for more than 20 years. He was also the founder of the Arizona Hotel Association. Rockwell died in Phoenix at age 61 in 1942.
John J. Collins is the Holmes Professor of Old Testament Criticism and Interpretation at Yale Divinity School. He is noted for his research in the Hebrew Bible, as well as the apocryphal works of the Second Temple period including the sectarian works found in Dead Sea Scrolls and their relation to Christian origins. Vandament Glacier is an east-flowing glacier, 6 nautical miles (11 km) long, draining the east-central portion of the Dominion Range icecap. The glacier lies close south of Koski Glacier, whose flow it parallels, and terminates 2 nautical miles (3.7 km) northwest of Safety Spur. It was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Charles H. Vandament, the United States Antarctic Research Program (USARP) ionospheric physicist at South Pole Station, 1962.
