Cotidianul (meaning The Daily in English) is a Romanian-language newspaper published in Bucharest, Romania.
Founded by Ion Rațiu, Cotidianul was first published on 10 May 1991 [1] and was the first privately held newspaper in Romania following the Romanian Revolution of 1989. [2] The paper had its headquarters in Bucharest. [1] It was published Monday to Saturday in Berliner format.
Cotidianul ceased print publication on 23 December 2009 [1] due to financial difficulties, but remains active as an online news source. [2] The owners announced the closure was temporary due to insolvency, but no buyers was found. [3] [4]
Since November 2016, the newspaper appears again in print. [5]
Evenimentul Zilei is a formerly physical and now exclusively online newspaper in Romania. Its name means "event of the day".
Traian Băsescu is a Romanian conservative politician who served as President of Romania from 2004 to 2014. Prior to his presidency, Băsescu served as Romanian Minister of Transport on multiple occasions between 1991 and 2000, and as Mayor of Bucharest from 2000 to 2004. Additionally, he was elected as leader of the Democratic Party (PD) in 2001.

Adevărul is a Romanian daily newspaper, based in Bucharest. Founded in Iași, in 1871, and reestablished in 1888, in Bucharest, it was the main left-wing press venue to be published during the Romanian Kingdom's existence, adopting an independent pro-democratic position, advocating land reform, and demanding universal suffrage. Under its successive editors Alexandru Beldiman and Constantin Mille, it became noted for its virulent criticism of King Carol I. This stance developed into a republican and socialist agenda, which made Adevărul clash with the Kingdom's authorities on several occasions. As innovative publications which set up several local and international records during the early 20th century, Adevărul and its sister daily Dimineața competed for the top position with the right-wing Universul before and throughout the interwar period. In 1920, Adevărul also began publishing its prestigious cultural supplement, Adevărul Literar și Artistic. By the 1930s, their anti-fascism and the Jewish ethnicity of their new owners made Adevărul and Dimineața the targets of negative campaigns in the far right press, and the antisemitic Octavian Goga cabinet banned both upon obtaining power in 1937. Adevărul was revived by Barbu Brănișteanu after World War II, but was targeted by Communist Romania's censorship apparatus and again closed down in 1951.
Iris is a Romanian rock band established in February 1977 by Ioan 'Nelu' Dumitrescu (drums), Ion 'Nuțu' Olteanu and Emil Lechințeanu. They achieved success, followed by tours throughout Romania and recordings for radio broadcast. At the 2006 MTV Romania Music Awards, Iris won the Best Rock Award and were nominated for Best Band and Best Live Act.
Asociația Sportivă Fotbal Club Universitatea Cluj, commonly known as Universitatea Cluj or simply as U Cluj, is a Romanian professional football club based in the city of Cluj-Napoca, Cluj County, that competes in the Liga I.
Vladimir Tismăneanu is a Romanian American political scientist, political analyst, sociologist, and professor at the University of Maryland, College Park. A specialist in political systems and comparative politics, he is director of the University of Maryland's Center for the Study of Post-Communist Societies, having served as chairman of the editorial committee (2004–2008) and editor (1998–2004) of the East European Politics and Societies academic review. Over the years, Tismăneanu has been a contributor to several periodicals, including Studia Politica, Journal of Democracy, Sfera Politicii, Revista 22, Evenimentul Zilei, Idei în Dialog and Cotidianul. He has also worked with the international radio stations Radio Free Europe and Deutsche Welle, and authored programs for the Romanian Television Company. As of 2009, he is Academic Council Chairman of the Institute for People's Studies, a think tank of the Romanian Democratic Liberal Party. Between February 2010 and May 2012, he was also President of the Scientific Council of the Institute for the Investigation of Communist Crimes in Romania.

Adrian Mihai Cioroianu is a Romanian historian, politician, journalist, and essayist. A lecturer for the History Department at the University of Bucharest, he is the author of several books dealing with Romanian history. He is also noted for his contribution as co-author of a high school textbook.
The Democratic Liberal Party was a liberal-conservative political party in Romania. The party was formed on 15 December 2007, when the Democratic Party (PD) merged with the Liberal Democratic Party (PLD). On 17 November 2014 the PDL officially merged into the National Liberal Party (PNL), ceasing to exist. The PDL was associated with Traian Băsescu, who was previously leader of the PD and President of Romania from 2004 to 2014.
Cristian Diaconescu is a Romanian jurist and politician. He previously belonged to the National Union for the Progress of Romania (UNPR) and the Social Democratic Party (PSD), as well as to the People's Movement Party (PMP), which he led from 2021 to 2022. He sat in the Romanian Senate from 2004 to 2012, representing Constanța County from 2004 until 2008, and subsequently Bucharest. In the Adrian Năstase cabinet, he was Minister of Justice from March to December 2004; in the Emil Boc cabinet, he was Minister of Foreign Affairs between 2008 and 2009. He returned to the position in 2012, also under Boc, and continued in this capacity under Boc's successor, Mihai Răzvan Ungureanu.
Adi Cristian Colceru also known as David Deejay, is a Romanian former DJ, Record producer and composer from Bucharest, Romania. He studied violin in primary school. After moving to Bucharest, he worked with several local producers, and in 2007 started with the hit single "Sexy Thing". He subsequently released several singles after the success of Sexy Thing such as Temptation and Fantasy. He is best known for his long time collaborations with singer Dony from the band Refflex.
Adrian Ursu is a Romanian journalist. Born in Slatina, he graduated from the Literature Faculty of the University of Bucharest in 1994, having been expelled from its Journalism Faculty the previous year. His journalistic work began in 1992, when he joined the staff of Adevărul newspaper. There, he reported on the activities of the Romanian Parliament, was an investigative journalist, and spent time as a war correspondent covering Iraq, Afghanistan and the former Yugoslavia. He advanced to become head of the politics department and assistant editor in chief before leaving the paper. From 2005 until December 2007, he was editor in chief of the new Gândul. In 2008, he joined Cotidianul's editorial council. Later that year, he became the newspaper's editor in chief, departing from that position in 2009 to become editorial director of Realitatea TV, and from the editorial council shortly thereafter when it was disbanded. He has produced shows on Romanian Television and Radio România Actualităţi, and co-hosted the daily talk show Ora de foc and the weekly Eurosceptici on Realitatea TV.
The 1989–90 season was FC Dinamo București's 41st season in Divizia A. In this season, Dinamo made the double, stopping Steaua's supremacy in Romania. In Europe, Dinamo reached the semifinals of the Cup Winners' Cup, where it is defeated by Anderlecht. It was a special season because of the Romanian Revolution of 1989. Dinamo dominated the first half of the season, winning the derby with Steaua, 3–0, on its ground. It was the first defeat for Steaua in the Romanian championship after 104 consecutive games. In the winter break, after the Revolution, Dinamo suffered administrative changes, for a few days having a different name – Unirea Tricolor.
Călin Georgescu is a Romanian senior expert in sustainable development, with an acknowledged recognition in the field, following 17 years of service in the environmental area in the United Nations system. Georgescu was appointed the executive director of the United Nations Global Sustainable Index Institute in Geneva and Vaduz for the period 2015–2016. Prior to that, he served as President of the European Research Centre for the Club of Rome (2013–2015). He is also member of the Club of Rome International in Switzerland.
The 2002–03 season was FC Dinamo București's 54th season in Divizia A. In this season, Dinamo was affected again by the big number of players who left the team, which became a tradition for the bosses of the club to sell players after winning a title. Thus, Dinamo was again facing another reconstruction. They started the season badly, losing the two games in the UEFA Champions League qualifying phase, and leaving early the European competitions. Cornel Dinu was sacked after this two losses. In Divizia A Dinamo had hard times, changing a lot of managers and losing seven consecutive games. The team finished the season on the sixth position. A momentum of the season came in November, in the Romanian Cup, last 16, where Dinamo met the biggest rival Steaua. Dinamo won 3-0 the game played at the Cotroceni stadium. After Ioan Andone came to the team, Dinamo played a spectacular semifinal with Astra Ploieşti. They lost the first game, 2–1 in Ploieşti in the middle of the crisis, but then the team beat Astra in Bucharest 3-1 after extra time. They then went on to win the Romanian Cup, after beating FC Naţional in the final 1–0 on a goal scored by Iulian Tameş.
The 2001–02 season was FC Dinamo București's 53rd season in Divizia A. In this season, Dinamo became Romanian champions for the 16th time in history. Dinamo was eliminated quickly from the UEFA Cup, and concentrated only on the internal competition. Thus, after the first half of the season, Dinamo was leader with two points over the revelation FC Național. In March 2002, Dinamo defeated Rapid 3–2, and distanced itself to five points at the front of the standings, and Cristian Borcea, Dinamo's president, launched after the game the famous sentence: "Let us prepare for the Champions League"
