Lumberton is a township in Burlington County,in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The township,and all of Burlington County,is a part of the Philadelphia-Reading-Camden combined statistical area and the Delaware Valley. As of the 2020 United States census,the township's population was 12,803,an increase of 244 (+1.9%) from the 2010 census count of 12,559,which in turn reflected an increase of 2,098 (+20.1%) from the 10,461 counted in the 2000 census.

Cammarano was arrested by the FBI on corruption charges on July 23,2009,as part of an international criminal investigation known as Operation Bid Rig;he resigned from office eight days later. He pleaded guilty to extortion in April 2010 and was later sentenced to 24 months in federal prison.

Former Mount Laurel mayor Gerry Nardello was selected to fill out the remainder of his term,and Christopher J. Brown won the seat in the 2011 general election.
James M. Turner was an American Republican Party politician who served in both houses of the New Jersey Legislature,serving one term in the New Jersey General Assembly from 1970 to 1972,and in the New Jersey Senate from 1972 until he was forced to resign from office in June 1973,after being convicted for his role leading a conspiracy to place drugs in the home of a Democratic Party political rival. Despite being evicted from his seat,Turner ran a quixotic campaign to be elected to a second term in the Senate.
