David Ehrhart is a retired United States Air Force brigadier general and lawyer. In June 2017, he was nominated by President Donald Trump to become General Counsel of the Air Force. The nomination was withdrawn in September 2017. [1]
Ehrhart is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, the University of Utah, and Creighton University School of Law.
He served for 33 years in the United States Air Force, retiring as a brigadier general. [2] While in the Air Force, Ehrhart completed tours as staff judge advocate for the Air Force Materiel Command's headquarters and as assistant judge advocate general for military law and operations for the Air Force's headquarters. He also served as commander of the Air Force Legal Services Agency, staff judge advocate at the Air Force's European headquarters, and commandant of the Air Force Judge Advocate General School. [3]
Ehrhart served as associate general counsel at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, where he was the lead attorney responsible for the F-35 program. [4] He was previously the chief counsel of global sustainment for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics. [3]
The Judge Advocate General's Corps also known as the "JAG Corps" or "JAG" is the legal arm of the United States Air Force.
Brigadier General Thomas Hemingway is an American military lawyer who has served as a legal advisor to the Office of Military Commissions. Thomas Hemingway was a distinguished graduate of the Air Force ROTC program, was commissioned as a second lieutenant in November 1962 after earning his undergraduate degree at Willamette University. Upon graduation, he took an educational delay and earned his doctor of jurisprudence in 1965 at Willamette University College of Law. Hemingway entered active service in November 1965. He has also been an associate professor of law at the United States Air Force Academy and a senior judge on the Air Force Court of Military Review. He is a current member of the state bar in Oregon and the District of Columbia, and has been admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. He retired from active service in October 1996. General Hemingway was recalled to active service in August 2003 to fill the position as Legal Adviser to the Convening Authority in the Department of Defense Office of Military Commissions, Washington, D.C. General. He was replaced by Thomas W. Hartmann in July 2007.

Joseph Francis Dunford Jr. is a retired United States Marine Corps four-star general, who served as the 19th chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from October 1, 2015 until September 30, 2019. He was the 36th commandant of the Marine Corps. Dunford is the first Marine Corps officer to serve in four different four-star positions; the others include commander of the International Security Assistance Force and United States Forces – Afghanistan from February 2013 until August 2014, and as the 32nd Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps from October 23, 2010, to December 15, 2012.
