Eastern Amateur

The Eastern Amateur is an annual amateur golf tournament. It has been played at Elizabeth Manor Golf and Country Club in Portsmouth, Virginia since 1957; the only exceptions were in 1977 when it was played at Sleepy Hole Golf Course in Suffolk, Virginia and in 1999 when it was played at nearby Bide-A-Wee Golf Course in Portsmouth during renovations at Elizabeth Manor.

Manor High School is a public high school located in Portsmouth, Virginia that opened in 1972. The name "Manor" was chosen from two surrounding communities, Hodges Manor and Elizabeth Manor. In 1993, due to a declining student population, Portsmouth Public Schools consolidated three high schools into one building. Woodrow Wilson High School's building was converted into a combined middle school (Hunt-Mapp) and Cradock High School was closed. The Cradock name was applied to the former Alfred J. Mapp Middle School. The Manor campus was chosen for the high school, as the newest of the 3 buildings, but the name would be changed to reflect the school with the longer history, Woodrow Wilson High School. This name change remained in effect until July 2021. Manor High School is administered by Portsmouth City Public Schools. The school colors are red, black and white, and Mustangs are the school's mascot.

The Elizabeth Arden Classic was a golf tournament on the LPGA Tour from 1969 to 1986. It was played at several different courses in the Miami, Florida area.

The Pocono Northeast Classic was a golf tournament on the LPGA Tour, played only in 1977. It was played at the Pocono Manor Golf Course in Pocono Manor, Pennsylvania. Debbie Austin won the tournament by one stroke over Sandra Post.

Fred Scobie Ridley is an American amateur golfer and golf administrator who won the U.S. Amateur in 1975, was elected president of the United States Golf Association (USGA) in 2004, and then became chairman of Augusta National Golf Club in 2017.

Golf is a popular sport in Wales. Although the sport of golf in Great Britain is most associated with Scotland, where it was established and developed, Wales can record its first courses back to the 1880s, and today has over 200 clubs. The first amateur golf competition was held in 1895, and the first professional championship was in 1904. Wales has produced several players of note, including one player, Ian Woosnam, who has won one of the Men's major golf championships and Wales has twice won the men's World Cup, in 1987 and 2005, respectively. Wales also hosted the Ryder Cup, when it was held at Newport's Celtic Manor Resort in 2010.

Eastmoreland Golf Course is a golf course in southeast Portland, Oregon. Designed by golf architect Chandler Egan, the course is the second oldest in Oregon, established in 1917, and was ranked among the top 25 public golf courses in the United States by Golf Digest in the early 1990s. It hosted the U.S. Amateur Public Links in 1933 and 1990.
