Elizabeth Raper SC is a judge of the Federal Court of Australia. She has served as a judge since 1 April 2022. [1] Raper was appointed by then Attorney-General Michaelia Cash to the Sydney Registry of the Federal Court following the retirement of Justice Geoffrey Flick. Raper attended the University of Sydney,earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1996 and a Bachelor of Laws with Honours in 1998. Her legal career began at the Australian Industrial Relations Commission,where she served as an Associate to Justice Paul Munro. She later worked as a lawyer in private practice at Baker and McKenzie. Raper also worked in academia at the University of Sydney and co-authored a text on discrimination law. [2]
As a Federal Court judge,Raper has presided over a high profile industrial dispute between the government of New South Wales and the Rail,Tram and Bus Union. [3] [4] [5]
Robert Bruce McClelland is an Australian judge and former politician who has served on the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia since 2015,including as Deputy Chief Justice of that court since 2018. He was previously Attorney-General of Australia from 2007 to 2011,and a member of the House of Representatives from 1996 to 2013,representing the Labor Party.

The Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) is an Australian tribunal that conducts independent merits review of administrative decisions made under Commonwealth laws of the Australian Government. The Federal Court of Australia is an Australian superior court of record which has jurisdiction to deal with most civil disputes governed by federal law,along with some summary and indictable criminal matters. Cases are heard at first instance mostly by single judges. In cases of importance,a Full Court comprising three judges can be convened upon determination by the Chief Justice. The Court also has appellate jurisdiction,which is mostly exercised by a Full Court comprising three judges,the only avenue of appeal from which lies to the High Court of Australia. In the Australian court hierarchy,the Federal Court occupies a position equivalent to the supreme courts of each of the states and territories. In relation to the other courts in the federal stream,it is superior to the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia for all jurisdictions except family law.
