Emtan Karmiel Ltd. is an Israeli company that develops and manufactures small arms, [1] pistols and rifles, for militaries and law enforcement agencies in Israel and around the world. [2]

History

Founded in 1977 by Reuven Zada, Emtan Karmiel started operation as a family business producing precision machining parts for the defense industry. In the early 1980s, the company began manufacturing rifle parts and precision parts for the defense industry of Israel.

Since the late 1990s, Emtan Karmiel is an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) that specializes in parts for Israeli made weapons and the A15 model (M4 / M16 sub-models), while operating production lines for rifle kits, as well as rifle and gun parts for European manufacturers.

Emtan Karmiel manufactures in-house rifles, pistols, modern barrels and submachine guns. [3]

International operations

The company provides products for customers including the Philippine National Police, the Philippine Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, [4] the Royal Thai Police, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), [5] manufacturers of firearms in Switzerland, Germany, the United Kingdom and customers in America, Africa and South America and for the commercial markets in Europe, South and Central America. The ArmaLite AR-18 is a gas-operated assault rifle chambered for 5.56×45mm NATO ammunition. The AR-18 was designed at ArmaLite in California by Arthur Miller, Eugene Stoner, George Sullivan, and Charles Dorchester in 1963 as an alternative to the Colt AR-15 design, a variant of which had just been selected by the U.S. military as the M16. A semi-automatic version known as the AR-180 was later produced for the civilian market. While the AR-18 was never adopted as the standard service rifle of any nation, its production license was sold to companies in Japan and the United Kingdom, and it is said to have influenced many later weapons such as the British SA80, the Singaporean SAR-80 and SR-88, the Belgian FN F2000, the Japanese Howa Type 89 and the German Heckler and Koch G36.

Wassenaar Arrangement Semi-automatic Rifles are a line of rifles sold in the United States by Century International Arms. The rifles are manufactured in Romania by the Cugir Arms Factory and are a semi-automatic variant of the Pistol Mitralieră model 1963/1965, a Romanian licensed derivative of the Soviet AKM assault rifle. Century imports them and modifies them in order to comply with national legislation before sale to the general public via licensed traders. RWC Group LLC, doing business as Kalashnikov USA (KUSA), is a privately-owned American company that designs, manufactures and markets Kalashnikov-styled firearms for law enforcement, military and commercial markets. Russian-made Kalashnikov rifles and other weapons cannot be imported to the U.S. due to sanctions. KUSA was formed to create these weapons locally.
