The European Amputee Football Federation (EAFF) is the administrative body for amputee football in Europe representing the national amputee football associations.

History

The European Amputee Football Federation was established by ten countries in its inaugural congress held in Dublin, Ireland in February 2015. The initial member countries were England, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Republic of Ireland, Russia, Spain, Turkey and Ukraine. Belgium, Georgia and the Netherlands joined the federation later. Mateusz Widłak from Poland was elected as its first president, [1] and Simon Baker from Ireland the Secretary General. [2] The same year, the EAFF gained the support of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) within its portfolio "Football for All Abilities". [1]

Program and projects

The EAFF runs a nation competition as the European Amputee Football Championship. [1] The first edition of the championship was held in Istanbul, Turkey in October 2017. [3]

Backed by the UEFA, the EAFF has set up projects including amputee and limb impaired children's football and conferences for coaches and referees. It is envisioned that the amputee football will be recognized as part of the Paralympic Games. [1]

The second European championship will be played in Krakow from September 12 -19 (2021)

It was organized by the World Amputee Football Federation (WAFF), and was held in Culiacán, Mexico between November 30–December 8, 2014. The previous event took place in Russia in 2012.

On December 1, 2015 The Daily Dot reported that SPOTV maybe acquiring the rights to broadcast League of Legends Champions Korea from OnGameNet. In May 2020, the U.S. television network ESPN began showing Korea Baseball Organization games with video feed by SPOTV.

Greek Amputee Football Association

The Greek Amputee Football Association is the Greek governing body of amputee football and represents Greece at international events and competitions. The association was founded with the support of EAFF. In February 2016, Amputee Football Greece became the 14th European national team.

The Kosovo women's national football team represents Kosovo in international women's football and is controlled by the Football Federation of Kosovo.

2019 UEFA Super Cup 44th edition of the annual football match organised by UEFA

The 2019 UEFA Super Cup was the 44th edition of the UEFA Super Cup, an annual football match organised by UEFA and contested by the reigning champions of the two main European club competitions, the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League. The match featured two English sides, Liverpool, the winners of the 2018–19 UEFA Champions League, and Chelsea, the winners of the 2018–19 UEFA Europa League. The match was played at Vodafone Park in Istanbul, Turkey on 14 August 2019. The match was the first all-English UEFA Super Cup, and the eighth overall Super Cup to feature two teams from the same country. For the first time, the video assistant referee (VAR) system was used in the competition.

The bidding process of UEFA Euro 2024 ended on 27 September 2018 in Nyon, Switzerland, when Germany was announced to be the host. Two bids came before the deadline, 3 March 2017, which were Germany and Turkey as single bids.

2017 European Amputee Football Championship International football competition

The 2017 European Amputee Football Championship was the first edition of the annual international competition of amputee football national men's teams. It was organized by the European Amputee Football Federation (EAFF), and was held in Istanbul, Turkey between October 1–10, 2017. The championship's drawing ceremony took place in Riva, Beykoz, Istanbul on August 19 to determine the groups.

The 2021 European Amputee Football Championship is the second edition of the international competition of amputee football national men's teams. It was organized by the European Amputee Football Federation (EAFF), and is being held in Kraków, Poland between September 12–19, 2021.
