F. G. Clark Activity Center is a 7,500-seat multi-purpose arena in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, that opened in 1975. [1] It is home to two Southern University basketball teams, the Southern Jaguars and Southern Lady Jaguars. [2] The arena also holds concerts and other events.

The arena is named for Dr. Felton Grandison Clark, who was the second president of Southern University after it had been designated as a land-grant college, serving from 1938 to 1969.

The Charles E. Smith Center is a 5,000-seat multipurpose arena in the United States' capital, Washington, D.C. Opened on November 17, 1975, it is home to the George Washington University Colonials men's and women's basketball teams, as well as the university's swimming, water polo, gymnastics, and volleyball teams. From 2014 to 2018, it was the home of the Washington Kastles of World TeamTennis. Smith Center also became the temporary home of the Washington Mystics as they made a run at a WNBA Championship in 2018. Smith Center is located on the main George Washington campus in Foggy Bottom, on the block bounded by 22nd and 23rd and F and G Streets NW. The arena also has hosted concerts and includes practice courts, a swimming pool, a weight room, and athletic department offices.

The Southern Jaguars and Lady Jaguars represent Southern University in NCAA intercollegiate athletics. Southern University's 13 athletic teams participate in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) which is a part of the NCAA Division I. Football participates in the Football Championship Subdivision.

The 2012–13 Southern Jaguars basketball team represented Southern University during the 2012–13 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Jaguars, led by second year head coach Roman Banks, played their home games at the F. G. Clark Center and were members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. They finished the season 23–10, 15–3 in SWAC play to finish in a tie for second place. They were champions of the SWAC Tournament to earn an automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Tournament where they lost in the second round to Gonzaga.

The 2013–14 Southern Jaguars basketball team represented Southern University during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Jaguars, led by third year head coach Roman Banks, played their home games at the F. G. Clark Center and were members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. They finished the season 19–13, 15–3 in SWAC play to win the regular season conference championship. They were ineligible for postseason play due to APR penalties. However, the SWAC received a waiver to allow its teams under APR penalties to still participate in the SWAC Tournament where the Jaguars lost in the quarterfinals to Prairie View A&M.

The 2014–15 Southern Jaguars basketball team represented Southern University during the 2014–15 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Jaguars, led by fourth year head coach Roman Banks, played their home games at the F. G. Clark Center and were members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. They finished the season 18–17, 13–5 in SWAC play to finish in third place. They advanced to the championship game of the SWAC Tournament where they lost to Texas Southern. Had they won the SWAC Tournament, they would not have qualified for the NCAA Tournament due to a postseason ban due to failing to supply usable academic data to the NCAA.

The 2015–16 Southern Jaguars basketball team represented Southern University during the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Jaguars, led by fifth year head coach Roman Banks, played their home games at the F. G. Clark Center and were members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. They finished the season 22–13, 11–7 in SWAC play to finish in fourth place. They defeated Alabama State, Texas Southern, and Jackson State to be champions of the SWAC Tournament. They earned the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament where they lost in the First Four to Holy Cross.

2018 NCAA Division I Womens Basketball Tournament

The 2018 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament began on March 16, 2018, and concluded with the national championship game on Sunday, April 1. The Final Four was played at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. This is the third time that the women's Final Four was played in Ohio after previously being held in Cincinnati in 1997 and Cleveland in 2007 and the first time that the women's Final Four was played in Columbus. For only the fourth time in the tournament’s 37-year history, all four of the number one seeds made it to the Final Four.

The 2016–17 Southern Jaguars basketball team represented Southern University during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Jaguars, led by sixth-year head coach Roman Banks, played their home games at the F. G. Clark Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana as members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. They finished the season 15–18, 10–8 in SWAC play to finish in a four-way tie for third place. As the 3-seed in the SWAC Tournament they defeated Jackson State before losing in the semifinals to Alcorn State.

2019 NCAA Division I Womens Basketball Tournament

The 2019 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament was a single-elimination tournament of 64 teams to determine the national champion for the 2018–19 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The 38th annual edition of the tournament began on March 22, and concluded with the championship game on April 7 at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, with the University of South Florida serving as host. The tournament field was announced on March 18.

The 2017–18 Southern Jaguars basketball team represented Southern University during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Jaguars, led by interim head coach Morris Scott, played their home games at the F. G. Clark Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana as members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. They finished the season 15–18, 10–8 in SWAC play to finish in fifth place. Due to Grambling State's Academic Progress Rate violations and subsequent postseason ineligibility, the Jaguars received the No. 4 seed in the SWAC Tournament. They defeated Jackson State in the quarterfinals before losing to Arkansas–Pine Bluff in the semifinals.

They finished the season 20–13, 12–4 in SWAC play to win the SWAC regular season championship. They also won the SWAC Women's Tournament, earning them an automatic bid to the NCAA Women's Tournament. They were seeded sixteenth, and lost to No. 1 seed Mississippi State in the first round.

The 2019–20 Southern Jaguars basketball team represented Southern University in the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Jaguars, led by second-year head coach Sean Woods, played their home games at the F. G. Clark Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana as members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. They finished the season 17–15, 13–5 in SWAC play to finish in second place. They defeated Alabama State in the quarterfinals of the SWAC Tournament and were set to face Texas Southern in the semifinals until the tournament was cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 1989 SWAC Men's Basketball Tournament was held March 9–11, 1989 at F. G. Clark Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Southern defeated Texas Southern, 86–81 in the championship game, to gain an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. The Jaguars received the #15 seed in the Southeast region.

The 1988–89 Southern Jaguars basketball team represented Southern University during the 1988–89 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Jaguars, led by head coach Ben Jobe, played their home games at the F. G. Clark Center and were members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. They finished the season 20–11, 10–4 in SWAC play to finish in a tie for first place. They were champions of the SWAC Tournament to earn an automatic bid to the 1989 NCAA Tournament where they lost in the opening round to North Carolina.
