The Flint United are a professional basketball team in Flint, Michigan, and members of The Basketball League (TBL).

History

On September 18, 2020, it was announced that Flint, Michigan would be awarded a franchise for the upcoming 2021 TBL season. [1] [2] The team is owned by Flint native Kevin Mays, who has experience in sports marketing and development, among different organizations. Mays played a key role for two successful Flint sports franchises: the Flint Firebirds and the Flint City Bucks. [3] Flint native Matt Washington was named the team's general manager. [4] On November 16. 2020, Charlie Bell was named as the team's inaugural head coach. [5] On November 17, 2021, Keno Davis was named as the new head coach.


Flint hosted a professional basketball team called the Flint Fuze in 2001 and the Flint Pros between the years of 1972–1974 in the Continental Basketball Association. [6]

He also served as an assistant coach for the Iowa Wolves of the NBA G League. and as an assistant coach for the Texas Legends of the NBA G League.

The Flint Fuze were a professional basketball team located in Flint, Michigan, United States, in 2001. They were a part of the Continental Basketball Association and played their home games at the IMA Sports Arena. Former National Basketball Association journeyman Jeff Grayer helped create the franchise and served as the team's initial head coach. After the 2001 season, low attendance forced the Fuze to relocate to Birch Run, Michigan, and become the Great Lakes Storm. After the 2004 season, the franchise folded.

She is currently the head basketball coach for the Rutgers University Scarlet Knights women’s basketball team. Washington holds a law degree and was the first president of the WNBA Players Association, holding that position from 1999 to 2001. She played high school basketball at Flint Central High School and collegiate basketball at the University of Notre Dame.

The Flint Firebirds are a major junior ice hockey team based in Flint, Michigan. The team plays home games at the Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center, and operates as a member of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). The team began play for the 2015–16 season. In June 2019, the Firebirds announced the Leamington Flyers (GOJHL) as an affiliate.

A native of Flint, Michigan, he competed for Flint Southwestern Academy at the high school level before moving to Huntington Prep School for his sophomore, junior, and senior year. Bridges was selected 12th overall by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2018 NBA draft, but was traded to the Hornets on draft night.

The 2022 TBL season is the fifth season of The Basketball League (TBL). The league expanded from 29 teams in the 2021 season to 44. The games played between the teams from the two leagues are included in their respective regular season standings for each league.
