Freeland Community School District is a school district headquartered in Freeland, Michigan in northwest Saginaw County. It is a part of the Saginaw Intermediate School District and serves the Freeland area, including Tittabawassee Township, the northern portion of Thomas Township, and the westernmost sections of Kochville Township. [3] Its schools include Freeland Learning Center, Freeland Elementary School, Freeland Middle School, and Freeland High School. [4] [5]

Freeland Learning Center

Freeland Learning Center is the oldest school building in the district, built in 1959, and expanded since then. As of 2021–2022 school year, the Learning Center houses Young 5's, Kindergarten, and 1st grade classes. [6]

The Learning Center also used to hold 2nd grade, until 2017. The school times are 8:45-3:50.

Freeland Elementary School

Freeland Elementary School also houses the District administration office. As of the 2021–2022 school year, the Elementary school houses students in 2nd-5th grade on the Elementary schedule as well as 6th grade class that operates on the Middle School schedule. [6]

Freeland Middle School/ Freeland High School

Freeland Middle School houses grades 7th and 8th. Freeland High school houses grades 9th-12th. [7] The high school campus includes a football stadium, a soccer stadium, and a 500-person auditorium. [8] [9] The facilities are shared with the Middle School which is collocated on the Webster Road campus.

From its founding in the early 1980s until 1999, it was known as the Center for the Arts & Sciences (CAS). During this period, it was a half-day school utilizing a concentration, or major, program to allow students to focus on specialized areas of study, while spending the other half of the day at their home school. In 1999, the name was changed, and SASA became a full day school, allowing students to take other required classes in addition to their concentration.

Forest Hills Eastern High School, commonly referred to as Forest Hills Eastern (FHE), is a Public Day School attended by students between the grades of 9 and 12. The School is located in Ada, Michigan which is considered to be a high-income area. Forest Hills Eastern is districted to Forest Hills Public Schools and falls under the jurisdiction of the Kent Intermediate School District. It follows a traditional curriculum teacher on student lecture complemented by technology usage. The school is managed by a principal and overseen by The Forest Hills School Board.
