The General Authority for Foreign Trade is a government agency in Saudi Arabia was established on 1 January 2019 and responsible for enhancing the international commercial and investment activities of the Kingdom. [1] [2]

Structure

The authority is governed by a board of directors headed by the Minister of Commerce and Investment. The board of directors includes representatives from other ministries and governmental agencies. The current governor of the authority is Abdulrahman Al Harbi who was appointed by a royal decree issued on 23 March 2019. [3]

The Ministry of Investment or previously, Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) is the foreign investment license provider for the Kingdom. It was created by the Saudi Government on 10 April 2000, as part of measures geared towards formalizing the process of economic liberalization. The government body awards investment licensing online and reports to the president of the Supreme Economic Council. SAGIA's headquarters are located in Riyadh, with three other business centers located in Saudi Arabia: Medina, Dammam and Jeddah. In order to facilitate investment, a larger network of business centers has been announced. The centers provide a variety of services such as giving advises, providing information about the requirement to get license and the services acquired after getting the license. This is achieved as the centers have representatives from different governmental agencies including, the Ministry of Labor, the General Directorate of Passports and others.

Mohamed Atiq Awayd Al Harbi

Mohamed Atiq Awayd Al Harbi is a citizen of Saudi Arabia, held in extrajudicial detention in the United States's Guantanamo Bay detention camps, in Cuba. His Guantanamo Internee Security Number is 333. The US Department of Defense reports that he was born on July 13, 1973, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Amr Al-Dabbagh Saudi Arabian businessman

Amr Al-Dabbagh is a Saudi businessman, philanthropist, former government minister, and author. He is the Chairman and CEO of the Jeddah-based Al-Dabbagh Group. Al-Dabbagh is the founder of the Stars Foundation, a non-profit devoted to helping disadvantaged children, and Philanthropy University, a Massive open online course (MOOC) for Global South civil society organizations, providing free non-credit courses based in Oakland, California.

The National Commercial Bank (NCB), also known as AlAhli Bank, is a Saudi Arabian bank. The institute is the largest bank by total asset in Saudi Arabia and the second-largest by market capitalization, and it's one of the largest Islamic banks in the world in terms of assets. NCB practices Islamic banking and finance. In 2014, NCB announced to turn itself into a fully Islamic bank in the next five years.

Jeddah Economic Forum (JEF) is a forum held annually since 1999 during winter in Jeddah, western Saudi Arabia. It has become the region's Middle East strategic think tank focusing on regional and international economic and social issues. The Jeddah Economic Forum is organized by the Jeddah Marketing Board, which is a part of Jeddah Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

The Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) is a regional Arab organization, a working sub-organization of the Arab League. It was founded 1976, and has been operational since 1977.

Saudi Civil and Political Rights Association

The Saudi Civil and Political Rights Association (ACPRA) is a Saudi Arabian human rights non-governmental organisation created in 2009. On 9 March 2013, the Saudi court sentenced two of its prominent leaders to at least 10 years in prison for "offences that included sedition and giving inaccurate information to foreign media", while dissolving the group. The association is also known in Arabic by its acronym HASEM.

The e-Government in Saudi Arabia was established as per Royal Decree No. 7/B/33181 dated 7 September 2003. The e-Government was created by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. In 2005, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology created the e-Government Program Yesser with the ministry of finance and the Communications and Information Technology Commission. The portal offers around 2500 services for people of Saudi Arabia. The main goal of the service is to facilitate the transactions of citizens, residents and visitors by providing a quick and sufficient assistance. Moreover, Yesser contributes to encouraging governmental agencies in achieving a sustainable progress by improving efficiency and capacity.

Afnan Al-Shuaiby

Afnan Al-Shuaiby is a Saudi national who is the former Secretary General and Chief Executive of the Arab British Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) in London, England. She has held various positions in Saudi Arabia in education, and foreign companies in the USA. She sits on the boards of many organizations.

Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasabi is the minister of commerce and investment and acting minister of media of Saudi Arabia. Prior to entering the Saudi politics, Al Qasabi earned a PhD degree in engineering management.

Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Zamil Saudi Arabian businessman

Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Zamil was an industrial engineer, whose work in industry and government was important to the industrial development of Saudi Arabia. As the original chief executive of Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), as Minister of Industry and Electricity, and through his family's Zamil Group Holding Company, he was instrumental in creating a nationally based, profitable, high-tech industrial enterprise in Saudi Arabia. Al Zamil encouraged careful expansion with strong partners on a basis of sound technology in a wide variety of areas. Zamil Group, which now employs more than 12,000 people in 60 countries, is involved in diverse sectors including general construction, paints, plastics, petrochemicals, shipbuilding, and port management. He was awarded the King Abdul Aziz Medal, 1984 and the Richard J. Bolte Sr. Award for supporting industries in 2015.

Fahad Almubarak

Fahad Almubarak is a Minister of State and Member of the Saudi Arabian Council of Ministers and the Saudi Arabia's G20 Sherpa since 2018. He has also been a Royal Court Advisor since 2015 and the Secretary-General of G20 Saudi Secretariat as well as Member of the SABIC Board of Directors’ Investment Committee since 2017.

Awwad Alawwad

Dr. Awwad S. Alawwad is a Saudi politician who has served as Minister of Culture and Information of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since April 2017, and as the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Germany from October 2015 to April 2017. Alawwad is currently the head of Human Rights Commission appointed by royal decree with the rank of minister in August 2019.

Disability in Saudi Arabia

Disability in Saudi Arabia is seen through the lens of Islamic Sharia, through cultural norms and also through legislation. As an Islamic society that follows the Qur'an and the Sunnah, disability is often seen through the lens of religion. Islam teaches that people with disabilities are to be treated with respect and equality. However, Saudi Arabia tends to view disability through the medical model, rather than the social model. In addition, there are few studies relating to people with disabilities in Saudi Arabia compared to other countries.

The Ministry of Commerce is a cabinet-level government ministry of Saudi Arabia responsible for both commerce and investment sectors in the kingdom. Its responsibilities include the development and implementation of policies and mechanisms that govern the sectors of commerce and Investment. The current minister is Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasabi who was appointed on 7 May 2016.
