Gennady Andreyevich Zyuganov is a Russian politician, and the leader of the largest opposition political party of the legislative branch of the Russian government: Duma. He has been the General Secretary of the Communist Party and served as Member of the State Duma since 1993. He is also the Chair of the Union of Communist Parties – Communist Party of the Soviet Union (UCP-CPSU) since 2001 and a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe since 1996.
