Germein is a pop band based in Adelaide, South Australia. Previously known as the Germein Sisters, its members are three siblings, Georgia Germein, Ella Germein, and Clara Germein. [1] [2] [3]

Contents

They have toured Europe, China, New Zealand and Australia. Their 2013 debut album, Because You Breathe, was recorded in Ireland. [4]

In 2018, the band played a 15-date stadium tour in the UK, supporting British group Little Mix on their Summer Hits Tour, performing to audiences of up to 35,000 people. That same year, they recorded the single "Knocking At My Door", as a follow-up to their previous track "Talking", which had received national airplay in Australia. [1] [5]

Georgia Germein is an acoustic pop singer-songwriter. She performs solo (vocals, guitar/piano) as well as with her two sisters as the band Germein. Prior to the formation of the band, Georgia released a solo album, Take My Hand, in 2010. [5]

Georgia grew up in the bush in the Adelaide Hills. She has undertaken various charitable activities including working in the Kalahari, South Africa, and Nepal, acting as a youth ambassador for World Vision in 2010. Georgia has been the recipient of awards including seven ASME Young Composers Awards. In 2007, she received the South Australian Premiers Award and achieved a semi-finalist status in the International Songwriting Competition. In 2009, she was announced as the National winner of the Young Bloods Radio Competition for Nova. [6] [ non-primary source needed ]

Ella Germein

Ella Germain plays bass, electric cello, and sings backing vocals with the band. She studied and works in the media arts and communications field, including television presentation. [7] [ non-primary source needed ]

The South Australian Music Awards (previously known as the Fowler's Live Music Awards) are annual awards that exist to recognise, promote and celebrate excellence in the South Australian contemporary music industry. They commenced in 2012. [9] [10]

Ian Richard Moss is an Australian rock musician from Alice Springs. He is the founding mainstay guitarist and occasional singer of Cold Chisel. In that group's initial eleven year phase from 1973 to 1984, Moss was recorded on all five studio albums, three of which reached number one on the national Kent Music Report Albums Chart. In August 1989 he released his debut solo album, Matchbook, which peaked at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart. It was preceded by his debut single, "Tucker's Daughter", which reached number two on the related ARIA Singles Chart in March. The track was co-written by Moss with Don Walker, also from Cold Chisel. Moss had another top ten hit with "Telephone Booth" in June 1989.

Killing Heidi are an Australian rock band, formed in Violet Town, Victoria in 1996, initially as a folk-pop duo by siblings Ella and Jesse Hooper. The band has released three studio albums: Reflector, which reached No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, Present and Killing Heidi. Their top 20 singles are "Weir", "Mascara", "Live Without It", "Outside of Me" and "I Am". At the ARIA Music Awards of 2000 they were nominated in seven categories and won four trophies: Album of the Year, Best Group, Breakthrough Artist – Album and Best Rock Album for Reflector. At the APRA Music Awards of 2001 Ella and Jesse Hooper won Songwriter of the Year. The group disbanded in 2006, with Ella and Jesse taking a lower profile with an acoustic folk duo, The Verses. In 2016, it was announced that the band would be reforming to celebrate its 20th anniversary, and the band have continued to tour since.

Kasey Chambers is an Australian country singer-songwriter and musician born in Mount Gambier to fellow musicians Diane and Bill Chambers. Her older brother is musician and producer Nash Chambers. All four were members of family country-music group Dead Ringer Band in Bowral, New South Wales from 1992 to 1998; Chambers launched her solo career thereafter. Five of her twelve studio albums have reached No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, Barricades & Brickwalls, Wayward Angel, CarnivalRattlin' Bones, and Dragonfly. In November 2018 she was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame and has won an additional 14 ARIA Music Awards with nine for Best Country Album. Her autobiography, A Little Bird Told Me..., co-authored with music journalist Jeff Apter, was released in 2011.

She participated on the first season of The Voice Australia, coming in third place. Shortly after, she signed a record deal with Universal Music Australia. Her debut album Shooting Star, which contained songs she performed on The Voice, as well as newly recorded covers, was released on 13 July 2012. The album debuted at number five on the ARIA Albums Chart.

Benjamin "Ben" Germein was a seaman and lighthouse-keeper in South Australia who is remembered as a hero of the wreck of the steamship Admella.

Camp Cope were an Australian alternative rock band formed in 2015 in Melbourne, Victoria. The group's lineup consisted of lead singer, songwriter and guitarist Georgia "Georgia Maq" McDonald, bassist Kelly-Dawn "Kelso" Hellmrich, and drummer Sarah "Thomo" Thompson. The band were signed with independent Melbourne label Poison City Records, where Thompson also works, and independent Boston label Run for Cover Records distributed their releases in North America and Europe. In February 2023, Camp Cope announced their imminent disbandment with a series of final performances.

The Summer Hits Tour 2018 was the first stadium tour by British girl group Little Mix. It began on 6 July 2018 in East Sussex, England, and concluded on 29 July 2018 in Inverness, Scotland. The group performed at fifteen shows across England, Wales, and Scotland and grossed over $10.4 million worldwide, and sold over 150,000 tickets through seven confirmed shows. The tours official box office and attendance numbers are unknown because information from eight other previous shows are unaccounted for. British boy group Rak-Su and Australian music trio Germein was announced as support acts.

Moutaiz Al-Obaidi, known professionally as Motez, is an Australian record producer, musician, installation artist and DJ. Motez was a refugee born in Iraq and moved to Adelaide in 2006. Motez's Song "The Future" featuring Antony and Cleopatra was certified Platinum in Australia. He has won several South Australian Music Awards for Best Solo Artist (2021) and Most Popular Electronic Artist

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Clara Serena</span> Australian operatic singer

Clara Serena Kleinschmidt was an Australian operatic contralto singer, professionally known as Clara Serena. She had a successful career in London and in Europe, which was interrupted by the World War I, and resumed in 1923 with Roy Mellish, her accompanist and husband. They retired to South Australia in 1951.
