The Academy Award for Best International Feature Film is one of the Academy Awards handed out annually by the U.S.-based Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). It is given to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States with a predominantly non-English dialogue track.
Cinema of the Netherlands refers to the film industry based in the Netherlands. Because the Dutch film industry is relatively small, and there is little or no international market for Dutch films, almost all films rely on state funding. This funding can be achieved through several sources, for instance through the Netherlands Film Fund or the public broadcast networks. In recent years the Dutch Government has established several tax shelters for private investments in Dutch films.
The Golden Calf is the award of the Netherlands Film Festival, which is held annually in Utrecht. The award has been presented since 1981, originally in six categories: Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Feature Film, Best Short Film, Culture Prize and Honourable mention. In 2004, there were 16 award categories, mainly because in 2003 the categories Best Photography, Best Montage, Best Music, Best Production Design, Best Sound Design were added.

Alsino and the Condor is a 1982 Nicaraguan film directed by Chilean filmmaker Miguel Littín. It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. It won the Golden Prize at the 13th Moscow International Film Festival. The film was a co-production between Nicaragua, Mexico and Cuba. The film is loosely based on the novel Alsino by Chilean writer Pedro Prado, and is set during the Nicaraguan Revolution. It starred Dean Stockwell.
Duska is a 2007 Dutch film directed by Jos Stelling. It was the Netherlands' submission to the 80th Academy Awards for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, but was not accepted as a nominee. At the Netherlands Film Festival, where it was the opening film Sylvia Hoeks won the Best Supporting Actress Golden Calf for her role as a cashier, while composer Bart van de Lisdonk was nominated for Best Music.
The Polish Bride is a 1998 Dutch film directed by Karim Traïdia and written by Kees van der Hulst. The film was selected as the Dutch entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 71st Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee.

Romy's Salon is a 2019 Dutch drama film directed by Mischa Kamp. It was based on the book of the same name by Tamara Bos. In July 2019, it was shortlisted as one of the nine films in contention to be the Dutch entry for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards, but it was not selected.
Buladó is a 2020 Curaçaoan drama film directed by Eché Janga. The film premiered at Netherlands Film Festival on the 2 October 2020. The film won the Golden Calf for Best Feature Film award. It was selected as the Dutch entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 93rd Academy Awards, but it was not nominated. The story, laced with magic realism, follows headstrong 11-year-old girl Kenza who is determined to find her own path into adulthood, as she mourns her mom. She is torn between her agnostic father Ouira and her spiritual grandfather Weljo.
Narcosis is a 2022 Dutch drama film directed and co-written by Martijn de Jong. The film won 3 Golden Calf. It was selected as the Dutch entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 95th Academy Awards, but it was not nominated.
Sweet Dreams is a 2023 Dutch-Swedish drama film written and directed by Ena Sendijarević. The film starring Renée Soutendijk and Hayati Azis, is set on a plantation in the Dutch East Indies around the beginning of the 20th century and offers a critical look at the Dutch colonial past. It premiered at 76th Locarno Film Festival in main competition section on August 5, 2023. It was selected as opening film of Netherlands Film Festival, where it was nominated in eight categories and won six awards.
