Guy Burnet is a British actor.

Early life

Burnet attended Holland Park School where his interest in drama first developed, taking an A level in the subject. [1]

Contents

Before becoming an actor, Burnet aspired to become a professional footballer. [2] He attended Queens Park Rangers Football School. He subsequently undertook trials and played in various locations throughout Europe before returning to London to complete his A levels. [3] [4]

He still plays football, taking part in a football match on 1 June 2007 at the new Wembley Stadium prior to England's first match at the stadium. In September 2007, he played for England in an England v Russia charity match in support of the Give Life Foundation. [5] [6]

Acting career

Television

Burnet joined the cast of Hollyoaks in 2002 as a main character and series regular, Craig Dean, following his second ever audition. On 3 August 2007, producer Bryan Kirkwood confirmed on Digital Spy that Burnet was quitting Hollyoaks. He said, "I am genuinely gutted that Guy is leaving the show, but after five years he feels the time is right. He's an amazing actor and has really come into his own through his work on the Craig and John Paul storyline - and has helped turn it into one of Hollyoaks' biggest ever storylines. We've left the door open for him to return and I wish him the very best of luck for whatever he does next." [7]

In 2009, Burnet played "Pinklady" in Moving On for the BBC. [8] After years on the New York stage, Burnet moved on to cable TV work and film. He appeared on the Showtime series Ray Donovan . [9] [10]

In 2016, Burnet joined the third series of Showtime's The Affair in the recurring role of Mike Cornwell. In 2017, he joined the second season of Hand of God starring Ron Perlman. [11] Also in 2017, Burnet was shooting Counterpart opposite J.K. Simmons. [12]

He was seen in the Bryan Cranston produced Amazon series Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams opposite Terrance Howard and Anna Paquin. [13]

Film

In 2012, Burnet completed work as a lead in the feature film Two Jacks alongside Sienna Miller. Other roles include work in Boxing Day , a Leo Tolstoy adaptation directed by Bernard Rose, in the thriller Rites of Passage with Christian Slater and Stephen Dorff, and in Age of Heroes a period war film with Sean Bean. [14]

Burnet then went on to play Ewan McGregor's partner in crime caper Mortdecai opposite Johnny Depp. Burnet co-starred in the musical comedy film Pitch Perfect 3 , opposite Anna Kendrick.

Burnet is cast in Jacob's Ladder , the remake of the 1990 film of the same name. [15] Burnet will also appear in the Michael Caton-Jones directed Asher . [16]

Theatre

During 2012, Burnet was the lead in a production of Murder in the First, which played off-Broadway. [17]

Personal life

As well as playing football, Burnet is involved in amateur boxing. His interest in boxing led him to direct a documentary on WBU featherweight title holder Derry Mathews. [18]

<i>Hollyoaks</i> British TV soap opera (since 1995)

Hollyoaks is a British soap opera which originally began airing on Channel 4 on 23 October 1995. It was created by Phil Redmond, who had previously conceived the soap opera Brookside. From 2005 to 2023, episodes have aired on sister channel E4 a day prior to their broadcast on Channel 4. In 2023, Hollyoaks was removed from Channel 4's early evening schedule, but remains on E4 and Channel 4's on demand service with episodes now uploaded to YouTube. At its inception, the soap was targeted towards an adolescent and young adult audience but it has since broadened its appeal to all age groups. Hollyoaks has covered various taboo subjects rarely seen on British television, for which it has received numerous awards. Ben Price is an English actor, director and writer. He has played the role of Nick Tilsley in the ITV soap opera Coronation Street and has made four films as a writer/director, the first of which, I'm Sorry To Tell You, was BAFTA-shortlisted.

The following series producer Bryan Kirkwood decided to bring the character back on a permanent basis. As of 2010, Richardson has revealed that he is committed to staying in the serial. Hollyoaks Later is a British television spin-off of the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks. The series allows for more sexual content, 'edgier' storylines and stronger language than Hollyoaks. The show was on hiatus from 2014 to 2020, where it returned on 6 January 2020 for a one-off episode focusing on the conclusion of Breda McQueen's serial killer storyline.
