Ilya Kharun (born February 7, 2005) is a Canadian competitive swimmer who specializes in the freestyle and butterfly. [2] [3]

Early life

He was born in Montreal in 2005 as his parents were acrobats who performed there in Cirque du Soleil. [1] The family would eventually move to Las Vegas where they would continue their entertainment careers with Cirque du Soleil. [1] The family thought he would be eligible to compete for the United States in swimming, but as he only held a Canadian passport it was determined that he would have to compete for the nation where he was born. [1] [4]

Career

Kharun made his international debut for Canada at the 2022 World Short Course championships. [5] Kharun won two medals at the event, set two World Junior records and three Canadian records. [1]

Taylor Madison Ruck is a Canadian competitive swimmer. She won two Olympic bronze medals as part of Canada's women's 4×100 metre and 4×200 metre freestyle relay teams at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Ruck won eight medals at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. Her eight medal performance of one gold, five silver, and two bronze tied her with three other athletes for the most all-time at a single Commonwealth Games, as well as making her the most decorated Canadian female athlete ever at a single Commonwealth Games. Ruck is the all-time leading medallist at the FINA World Junior Swimming Championships having won nine gold, two silver, and two bronze over the course of the 2015 and 2017 editions.

Hannah Elizabeth Aspden is an American Paralympic swimmer. She was the youngest swimmer on Team USA to medal at either the Olympics or Paralympics in 2016. During the 2019–20 season at Queens University of Charlotte, Aspden broke two American Paralympic Short Course Meters Swimming records in both the 100-Meter Backstroke and the 100-Meter Freestyle.
