Irina Margareta Nistor (born 26 March 1957 [1] ) is a Romanian translator and film critic. [2] [3]
Nistor worked as a translator of TV programs in Romania under the Communist regime, and is known for secretly dubbing over 3,000 banned movie titles on VHS tapes smuggled in from the West over a period of five years. [4] During the time of the Cold War, these tapes quickly spread throughout Romania, and her voice became widely known throughout the country. In a recent New York Times video about Nistor, one of the interviewees observes: "We did start to wonder why all the films were dubbed by the same voice… (Nistor’s) is the most well known voice in Romania after Ceaușescu’s...” [5]
Nistor worked for The Romanian Television from 1980 until 1999, first as a film translator, then as a program producer. [6] In 1993, she produced, in French, for TV5 Europe a one-hour program called “The Romanian Cinema after 1989”. [6]
Nistor is featured in the documentary Chuck Norris vs Communism , directed by London-based Romanian filmmaker, Ilinca Calugareanu. [5] [7] Its European premiere was at the Edinburgh International Film Festival on 24 and 25 June 2015. [8] The film was screened at the Hawaii European Cinema: Hawaii's European Film Festival on 17 October 2015. [9] [10] The film also screened at Cinequest 2016, in San Jose, California, USA. [11]
Nistor remains active within the Romanian film industry. In 2012, she launched the Psychoanalysis and Film Festival, headed by psychoanalyst Andrea Sabbadini, which was the Romanian extension of the European Psychoanalytic Film Festival presided by Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci. [12] For nine years, she has presented a weekly one-hour Sunday program on Radio Guerrilla, The Voice of the Movies. [6] In 2006, she published a book about her mentor, film critic D.I. Suchianu. [6] She was an HBO adviser and a member of the screenplay jury in film financing procedures of the Romanian National Fund of Cinematography. [6] She has also been the film selector for the DaKINO international film festival.

Carlos Ray "Chuck" Norris is an American martial artist and actor. He is a black belt in Tang Soo Do, Brazilian jiu jitsu and judo. After serving in the United States Air Force, Norris won many martial arts championships and later founded his own discipline Chun Kuk Do. Shortly after, in Hollywood, Norris trained celebrities in martial arts. Norris went on to appear in a minor role in the spy film The Wrecking Crew (1969). Friend and fellow martial artist Bruce Lee invited him to play one of the main villains in Way of the Dragon (1972). While Norris continued acting, friend and student Steve McQueen suggested he take it seriously. Norris took the starring role in the action film Breaker! Breaker! (1977), which turned a profit. His second lead Good Guys Wear Black (1978) became a hit, and he soon became a popular action film star.

The Palace of the Parliament, also known as the Republic's House or People's House/People's Palace, is the seat of the Parliament of Romania, located atop Dealul Spirii in Bucharest, the national capital. The Palace reaches a height of 84 m (276 ft), has a floor area of 365,000 m2 (3,930,000 sq ft) and a volume of 2,550,000 m3 (90,000,000 cu ft). The Palace of the Parliament is the heaviest building in the world, weighing about 4,098,500,000 kilograms, also being the second largest administrative building in the world. (The Great Pyramid of Giza at about 5.75 million tons is about 40% heavier.) The building was designed and supervised by chief architect Anca Petrescu, with a team of approximately 700 architects, and constructed over a period of 13 years (1984–97) in Socialist realist and modernist Neoclassical architectural forms and styles, with socialist realism in mind. The Palace was ordered by Nicolae Ceaușescu (1918–1989), the president of Communist Romania and the second of two long-ruling heads of state in the country since World War II, during a period in which the personality cult of political worship and adoration increased considerably for him and his family.
László Tőkés is an ethnic Hungarian pastor and politician from Romania. He was a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from 2007 to 2019. Tőkés served as a Vice-President of the European Parliament from 2010 to 2012.

The film is about the illegal importation of American action and religious films on VHS cassettes to Romania in the late 1970s and 1980s, which the filmmakers believe contributed to the fall of the Nicolae Ceaușescu's communist dictatorship. The film recreates incidents and features interviews with Romanians such as film dubber Irina Margareta Nistor.
