Light rail vehicles are stored and maintained at yards at locations in South Salt Lake and Midvale. UTA's commuter rail equipment is stored and serviced at a facility in Salt Lake City.

The Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART) is the public transit operator serving suburban Metro Detroit in the United States. It partners with the Detroit Department of Transportation. Beginning operations in 1967 as the Southeastern Michigan Transportation Authority (SEMTA), it operates 48 bus routes, plus paratransit services, covering select communities in Wayne and Oakland counties, plus all of Macomb County. Its name was changed to SMART in 1989. As of 2008, SMART has the third highest ridership of Michigan's transit systems, surpassed by Lansing's Capital Area Transportation Authority and the Detroit Department of Transportation. SMART has its headquarters in the Buhl Building in Downtown Detroit.
Chapel Hill Transit operates public bus and van transportation services within the contiguous municipalities of Chapel Hill and Carrboro and the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the southeast corner of Orange County in the Research Triangle metropolitan region of North Carolina. Chapel Hill Transit operates its fixed route system fare free due to a contractual agreement with the two towns and the university to share annual operating and capital costs.

Xpress is a regional commuter coach service operated as a partnership between the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA) and Clayton, Cherokee, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Paulding, and Rockdale counties. As of 2015, 34 Xpress routes are in operation. Operators of Xpress are contracted through Professional Transit Management and American Coach. In Cobb and Gwinnett Counties Cobb Community Transit or Gwinnett County Transit provide Xpress service in addition to their own express services. Service hours are from roughly 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m weekdays, with most service being rush hours only. In 2021, the system had a ridership of 267,300, or about 13,700 per day as of the fourth quarter of 2021.
OC Bus is the transit bus service operated by the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA), serving every city in Orange County. Some of the lines serve the Los Angeles County border communities of Lakewood, La Mirada, Cerritos, Hawaiian Gardens and Long Beach along with express service to Downtown Los Angeles, and Riverside County. As of September 2021, there are 58 routes in the system. OCTA employs the drivers that operate most routes, but some are contracted out to First Transit.
The KC Streetcar is a streetcar system in Downtown Kansas City, Missouri. Construction began in May 2014. The system opened for service on May 6, 2016. The KC Streetcar is free to ride, as it is funded by a transportation development district. As of October 2021, the streetcar has had 9.4 million riders since opening in 2016. Extensions north to the waterfront and south to University of Missouri-Kansas City have been funded and will open in the mid-2020s.
