Content and scope

The journal publishes scholarly articles, review articles and book reviews, covering a broad range of historical approaches including social, economic, political, diplomatic, intellectual and cultural, on every country and region of the world within living memory, from 1930 to the present day. The journal also publishes special issues, arising from conferences or from an externally submitted proposal.

Since 2008, the journal has included reviews of individual books, in addition to review articles covering a range of books within the compass of a single critical essay.

Abstracting and indexing

The journal is abstracted and indexed in Scopus [1] and the Social Sciences Citation Index. [2]

Reception

The journal has been described as "an excellent international publication". [3] The Times Literary Supplement has described it as "one of the outstanding learned journals of history in the English-speaking world." [4]

According to the Journal Citation Reports , the journal has a 2018 impact factor of 0.769, ranking it 22nd out of 95 journals in the category "History". [5]

It was established in 1957 by Louis Dumont and David Francis Pocock. It is published by SAGE Publishing in association with the Institute of Economic Growth. The journal ceased publication in 1966. A new series commenced publication the next year at the initiative of Triloki Nath Madan, with volume numbering re-starting at 1. <i>Journal of Human Evolution</i> Academic journal

The Journal of Human Evolution is a monthly peer-reviewed scientific journal that concentrates on publishing the highest quality papers covering all aspects of human evolution. JHE was established in 1972 and is published by Elsevier. The Editors-in-Chief are Andrea B. Taylor and Clément Zanolli. The central focus of JHE is aimed jointly at paleoanthropological work, covering human and primate fossils, and at comparative studies of living species, including both morphological and molecular evidence. These include descriptions of new discoveries, analyses and interpretations of new and previously described material, and assessments of the phylogeny and paleobiology of primate species. In addition to original research papers, space is allocated for the rapid publication of short communications on new discoveries, such as exciting new fossils, as well as lead book reviews, obituaries and review papers of exceptionally high quality.

The journal was established in 1976 by Maria Luisa Righini Bonelli as the Annali dell'Istituto e Museo di storia della scienza di Firenze. The journal changed its publisher in 2011. It is published by Brill Publishers and the editor-in-chief is Elena Canadelli of the University of Padua, Italy.
