The LAPV Enok is a Light Armoured Patrol Vehicle of the Bundeswehr, mostly in use with the German Army. It is a significantly further developed Wolf SSA, based on the Mercedes-Benz G-Class. [2]

The LAPV Enok is being manufactured by Armored Car Systems GmbH (ACS), based in Aichach, a wholly owned subsidiary of 'Gruma Commercial Vehicles' based in Derching. Important subcontractors are the companies LeTech - Special Purpose Vehicles (formerly Lennartz Technik) in Welzheim and the Austrian Magna Steyr based in Graz.

History

A first batch of 247 vehicles has been ordered by the Bundeswehr, with deliveries scheduled to be carried out between 2008 and 2013. [3]

Another batch of 84 improved Enoks (Enok 6.1) with increased armor and weight (=6.1 tonnes (6.7 short tons)) were ordered in January 2015. 49 of them are determined for the Kommando Spezialkräfte [4]

Im August 2018, the German Federal Police ordered modified Enok 6.1s along with remote controlled weapon stations as protected vehicles for airport security tasks, denominated Geschütztes Einsatzfahrzeug 2 - (GEF2). [5]

Design

It features protection according to NATO STANAG 4569 Level 2, against rifle fire, land mines, and improvised explosive devices. The Enok was especially designed to be deployed in harsh terrain and bad weather situations.

The Puma is a German infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) designed to replace the aging Marder IFVs currently in service with the German Army. Production of the first batch of 350 vehicles began in 2010 and was completed in August 2021. A second batch of 229 Pumas received funding. Mass production began on 6 July 2009. The companies responsible for this project are Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and Rheinmetall Landsysteme, which created a joint venture, Projekt System Management GmbH (PSM). The Puma is one of the world's best-protected IFVs, while still having a high power-to-weight ratio.

The DURO is a series of wheeled, multi-purpose military transport vehicles produced by General Dynamics European Land Systems/MOWAG in both four and six wheel drive. It was initially developed for Switzerland by Bucher-Guyer AG in Niederweningen, Switzerland. An initial 3000 vehicles order for the Swiss Armed Forces came through in 1994. The Pinzgauer is a family of high-mobility all-terrain 4WD (4×4) and 6WD (6×6) military utility vehicles. The vehicle was originally developed in the late 1960s and manufactured by Steyr-Daimler-Puch of Graz, Austria, and was named after the Pinzgauer, an Austrian breed of cattle. They were most recently manufactured at Guildford in Surrey, England by BAE Systems Land & Armaments. It was popular amongst military buyers, and continued in production there throughout the rest of the century.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Compulsory Border Guard Service</span> Compulsory national service in Germany

The Compulsory Border Guard Service was enacted by the German parliament in the Federal Border Protection Act of 18 August 1972, based on Article 12a of the German Constitution. The remaining provisions of the Federal Border Protection Act were repealed in 1994. However, compulsory border guard service has not been enforced since 1973. Anyone who serves or served in the Federal Border Guard can no longer be assigned to the military service in the German Federal Armed Forces. In 2005 the border guard was renamed the Bundespolizei (BPOL) and any mandatory service would be performed there.

The Mildef Tarantula HMAV is a Malaysian 4×4 V-hull mine-resistant infantry mobility vehicle that provides high level protection against a variety of battlefield threats such as mines and improvised explosive devices. The vehicle was designed and manufactured by Mildef International Technologies alongside Science Technology Research Institute for Defense (STRIDE) and the Malaysian Armed Forces. It was first launched on 11 February 2021.
