Television

As of the 2023–24 NHL season, Scripps Sports has regional television rights to the Arizona Coyotes. In the Phoenix market, games broadcast on KNXV-TV's Antenna TV-affiliated subchannel 15.2 serving as flagship station, with further affiliates planned for outlying areas of the team's designated market, which includes Utah and New Mexico. [1] [2] Partway through the season, KASW-TV became the flagship broadcast channel [3]

From its move to Phoenix in 1996 to the end of the 2007–08 season, the regional television rights for Arizona Coyotes were split between Fox Sports Arizona [4] and over-the-air broadcasters including KTVK and KASW (1996 - 2006) [5] [6] and KAZT-TV (2006 - 2008). [7]

From the 2007–08 NHL season until the 2023–24 NHL season, Bally Sports Arizona (formerly Fox Sports Arizona) was the exclusive regional television rightsholder since 2008 for all Arizona Coyotes games not broadcast nationally by NBCSN, NBC, ESPN, ABC, or TNT. [8]

Strader was hired by the Phoenix Coyotes on July 2, 2007. He was reunited with his former ESPN and ABC partner, Darren Pang, for Coyotes broadcasts for two seasons. With no television contract in place for Coyotes games, Pang left in 2009 to join the St. Louis Blues. [10] [11] Strader was joined in the broadcast booth by former NHL player Tyson Nash. In July 2011, Strader left his position with the Coyotes to accept a full-time job with NBC/Versus.

Matt McConnell is the current play by play announcer for the Arizona Coyotes. [12]

In 2021, the Arizona Coyotes entered a two-year deal with Bonneville Phoenix to broadcast the team's games on the radio in the Phoenix market on either KMVP-FM or KTAR. [16] In 2023, the Arizona Coyotes extended the deal with Bonneville Phoenix by one-year. [17]

In 2019–20, KGME regained its contract as the flagship station of the Arizona Coyotes. Previously, the Coyotes games were broadcast on KMVP.

KMVP-FM is a commercial radio station in Phoenix, Arizona, featuring a sports format branded as "98.7 FM Arizona's Sports Station". Local programming airs on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., with ESPN Sports Radio heard nights and weekends. Owned by Salt Lake City–based Bonneville International, KMVP-FM's radio studios are on North 16th Street in Phoenix near Piestewa Peak, while the transmitter is in South Mountain Park.

KKFR is a commercial radio station that is licensed to Mayer, Arizona, and serves the Phoenix metropolitan area. The station is owned and operated by Riviera Broadcast Group and airs a rhythmic hot AC radio format. KKFR broadcasts with an effective radiated power of 41 kW. The station's studios are located on 7th Street in Midtown Phoenix and its transmitter is located in Crown King, Arizona, producing a rimshot signal from 50 miles (80 km) northwest of Phoenix. KKFR is the flagship station of the nationally syndicated program Dana Cortez Show.

KTAR-FM is a commercial radio station licensed to Glendale, Arizona, and serving the Phoenix metropolitan area. It is owned by Salt Lake City–based Bonneville International, a profit-making division of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. KTAR-FM broadcasts a talk radio format.

KTAR is an AM commercial radio station licensed to Phoenix, Arizona, United States. Owned and operated by Bonneville International, it features a sports format airing programming from ESPN Radio. The studios are located in north Phoenix near Piestewa Peak, and the station broadcasts with 5,000 watts from a transmitter site near the corner of 36th Street and Thomas Road.

David Strader was an American sportscaster, primarily known for his play-by-play commentary of ice hockey. During his career, he worked on telecasts for the Detroit Red Wings, Florida Panthers, Phoenix Coyotes and Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League (NHL). He also worked nationally in the United States for ESPN, ABC, Versus, NBC, and NBCSN.

Scripps Sports is the sports division of the E. W. Scripps Company; it is responsible for the broadcasting of sporting events across its broadcast television portfolio, including local stations and co-owned networks.
