Tessie Thompson, played by Sian Gibson, debuted on-screen during 1998. She was involved in storylines such as pretending to be pregnant, extortion and hiding Tony Hutchinson's (Nick Pickard) son from him for 8 years. The Sun announced her return on 17 October 2007.

Tessie and Tony begin dating and she pretends to be pregnant before she tries to scam him and take his money. She gets found out and leaves a humiliated Tony. Several years after her last appearance, "old flame" Tessie returns for Tony's 30th birthday party. [1] Tony is "gob-smacked" to see her there and Tessie "rocks Tony's world to its foundations" when she introduces him to his long-lost son, Harry (Daniel Seymour). [2] When she supposedly lied about her pregnancy, she was pregnant and had chosen to lie about it. Radio Times described Tessie as "slightly unhinged". [3]

Kevin Daniels, played by Robert Weatherby, was the friend and roommate of Rob Hawthorne (Warren Derosa). Kevin joined Rob and Ruth Osborne (Terri Dwyer) on a charity mountain climb, but the they ended up getting stuck and needed to be rescued. In October 1998, Kurt Benson (Jeremy Edwards) turned up at the flat searching for Rob, who had put his sister, Lucy (Kerrie Taylor), in a drug-induced coma. Kurt got physical with Kevin, until Kevin told him that Rob was searching for Jude Cunningham (Davinia Taylor), and Kurt left.

Kirsty Williams, played by Keeley Forsyth, is a member of the Williams family who targeted the Patrick family. Gina Patrick (Dannielle Brent) had witnessed a stabbing committed by Kirsty and was asked to testify against Kirsty in court. The Williams family targeted Gina's family, so Gina decided not to testify. Gina was arrested for failing to appear in court and ended up giving evidence.

Jasmine Bates, played by Elly Fairman, first appeared in 1998 before leaving in 1999. She has a brief relationship with the new lifeguard at the college pool, Adam Morgan (David Brown). She is also part of a "controversial lesbian affair" in which she and flatmate Ruth Osborne (Terri Dwyer) kiss before having sex. [4] The Daily Record listed them amongst "The soap stars who boosted the ratings with their shocking clinches". [5] The Daily Record also wrote: "Wait until the TV watchdog people see this week's Hollyoaks – lesbian kissing scenes at tea-time. Phil Redmond brought you your first lesbian kiss in Brookside a good few years ago now and there was uproar. Now he's at it again in his teen-soap as a good old heart-to-heart between Jasmine and Ruth over a bottle of wine leads to something more. The next morning, Ruth is not a happy girl at all, as she regrets her night of passion with her flatmate. Oh dear. Sparks will fly." [6]

Detective Inspector Vicky Green, played by Francesca Ryan in 1998 and 2006 and Rosie Fellner in 2005, was a detective who investigated the disappearance of Mandy Richardson (Sarah Jayne Dunn) after she disappeared from home. Mandy's boyfriend Sol Patrick (Paul Danan) was suspected to have been involved in her disappearance, especially when Paul Millington (Zander Ward) refused to corroborate Sol's alibi that they were joyriding in a stolen car at the time. D.S. Green returned in 2005 and served as the family liaison officer when Mandy's half-brother Tom Cunningham (Ellis Hollins) went missing. He was later discovered by Mandy at her late mother and step-father's grave. The following year, D.I. Green was called Hollyoaks following the tragic cot death of Mandy's daughter Grace Hutchinson. She questioned Mandy's husband Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard), Mandy, and babysitters Hannah Ashworth (Emma Rigby) and Nancy Hayton (Jessica Fox) over what had happened up to when Mandy found Grace dead.


Rory Finnigan

Rory "Finn" Finnigan, played by James Redmond, first appeared in 1998 before leaving in 2002, after playing the character for 4 years. He left to return to his previous life before his time in Hollyoaks village. Rory was described as a "cheeky chancer" and a "heart-throb". [7] In 2009, the Daily Star reported that Hollyoaks producer Lucy Allan was planning to lure Redmond back into his role. [8]

Paul Millington, played by Zander Ward, first appeared in 1998 before leaving in 2000. Paul is a friend of Sol Patrick (Paul Danan) and develops feelings for Sol's sister, Gina (Dannielle Brent). However, Gina rejects him as she is a lesbian. Paul and Sol later go into business together as car washers. However, the business fails when Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor Dawson) gets involved and they all fell out after he fires Sol. Gina convinces Paul to attend literacy classes since he cannot read or write, and he agrees on the condition that she pretends to be illiterate so that she can join him. However, she leaves part way through the class to show Paul that he does not need her with him. Paul later enrols in an art course. When Zara Morgan (Kelly Greenwood) gains an attraction to Paul and tries to kiss him, he rejects her. Zara writes in her diary that she had had sex with Paul, which her father discovers, shoving Paul into a table with glasses. Paul temporarily loses feeling in his hand but decides against pressing charges, instead leaving the village.

Vernon Booth, played by Seamus O'Neill, was a builder who worked on Gordon Cunningham's (Bernard Latham) building on Oakdale Drive. Vernon caused problems with Mr. C's tenant Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) - who owned Got It Taped - with his late arrival and behaviour that turned customers away. He was hired by Rory Finnigan (James Redmond) in August 2000 to work on building The Loft, with his girlfriend Victoria Hutchinson (Fiona Mollison) managing to talk Vernon into talking down the price. In March 2006, Vernon worked on the construction of Evissa. Tony protested against the building, believing it to be a sex shop, with Vernon embarrassing Tony before Tony was arrested.

Wayne Clark, played by James Corden, appeared between 1998 and 1999. Wayne was friends with Paul Millington (Zander Ward) and Sol Patrick (Paul Danan), befriending them as they worked community service for a car theft in May 1998. After leaving HCC, Wayne ran a car wash stall and employed Sol. After Sol was imprisoned for stealing a car and crashing it, Wayne closed the stall and left the village.

Emily Taylor, played by Lorna Pegler, first appeared in 1998, before leaving in 2001. She is the girlfriend of Gina Patrick (Dannielle Brent). Emily and Gina share an interest in animal welfare and begin a relationship together. Emily cheats on Gina so their relationship ends. Emily shares a kiss with Nikki Sullivan (Wendy Glenn), but is furious when Nikki tells her she only kissed Emily to see how kissing a woman would feel. Emily and Gina reconcile and Emily leaves with her when Gina leaves to do charity work in China.

Brent secured the role after originally auditioning for the role of Gina's sister Kate Patrick. Gina was initially a recurring character, though was promoted later to the regular cast. Brent felt that the role had given her good training, though decided to leave the serial after four years.

He was introduced as part of the Osborne family along with son Darren and wife Celia who joined daughter Ruth to live in Hollyoaks village. His storylines have included an affair with Dawn Cunningham, four marriages and an insurance scam which saw him fake his own death. In his later years, Jack was more commonly known as the landlord of the show's pub, The Dog in the Pond.

Mandy Richardson is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks, played by Sarah Jayne Dunn. She first appeared on 7 October 1996 and has been involved in various storylines, including dealing with sexual abuse while she was a child by her father Dennis, the suicide of her brother Lewis, and an on-off relationship with Tony Hutchinson before the couple married. Mandy had a miscarriage causing her to hit Tony. Mandy and Tony had a daughter together who they named Grace, only for her to die from sudden infant death syndrome. This led to the character and Dunn's exit from the serial in 2006. Dunn made a brief return in 2007 before making a return for six months in 2008. Dunn reprised her role as Mandy in 2010; in September 2011, Dunn announced her departure from the soap, and Mandy made her last appearance on 2 September 2011 before departing off-screen. Dunn later returned to her role in the sixth series of Hollyoaks Later in October 2013. In June 2017, it was announced that Dunn had reprised the role again and that Mandy would appear from July alongside Luke Morgan, played by Gary Lucy. Mandy returned on 26 July 2017. In November 2021, it was announced that Dunn's contract with Hollyoaks had been terminated due to starting an OnlyFans; viewers of the soap criticised the decision and Dunn herself voiced her disappointment with the production team. In July 2010, it was announced that the character was to leave the show which he did on 24 November 2010. Pickard reprised the role during the sixth series of Hollyoaks Later.

In July 2021, 15 years after her initial departure from the soap, it was announced that Condron would be reprising her role as Zara, and she returned full-time from 5 August 2021. On 29 June 2023, it was announced that Condron was to make a second departure from Hollyoaks. Zara's final scenes aired on 30 June 2023.

Helen Cunningham is a fictional character from the British soap opera Hollyoaks, played by Kathryn George. The character debuted on-screen during the episode broadcast on 8 September 1997. Helen was centric to several storylines including her marriage with Gordon Cunningham, dealing with the suicide of her son Lewis Richardson and her daughter Mandy Richardson's abuse at the hands of her ex-husband, Dennis Richardson. Producers also created an advanced maternal age storyline for the character, where she becomes pregnant with Gordon's child and gives birth to Tom Cunningham. In 2003, writers featured Helen in an infidelity story with Tony Hutchinson. Helen and Tony, who is younger engage in a sexual affair which nearly ruins her on-screen partnership with Gordon.

Rory "Finn" Finnigan is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks, played by James Redmond. He first appeared in June 1998 before leaving in January 2002. He left to return to his previous life before his time in Hollyoaks village. Finn returned for the sixth series of Hollyoaks Later. Hollyoaks celebrated twenty years on air in October 2015, with Redmond reprising his role for the celebrations. In October 2017, Hollyoaks confirmed that Finn was returning at Christmas. Finn returned on 14 December 2017 and again the following year, last appearing on 5 March 2018.

Luke Morgan is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks, played by Gary Lucy. He was introduced by the show's creator Phil Redmond as part of the Morgan family, and made his first appearance on 25 March 1999. The character was involved in a male rape storyline, which was branded "groundbreaking" and met with controversy. Lucy opted to leave the role in 2001 after two years, although he returned for two episodes in August 2002. The character's reintroduction was announced on 21 May 2017 and he returned on 24 July. Lucy took a break from the series in 2018 to appear in a play. The character made a few brief appearances throughout 2019 before he returned permanently in August. Luke was killed off in 2022, with his final scenes airing on 9 June 2022. He returned briefly in 2023 as a vision to his former fiancée Cindy Cunningham.

Ruth Osborne is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks, played by Terri Dwyer. She first appeared in January 1996 as the cousin of Natasha Andersen, and departed in 2001. She made guest appearances between 2003 and 2004, and another in 2008. Dwyer expressed interest in returning full-time in 2009.

Diane Hutchinson is a fictional character from the British soap opera Hollyoaks, played by Alex Fletcher. The character made her first appearance on 1 September 2010. Diane was introduced into the series by Hollyoaks' executive producer Paul Marquess, during his rejuvenation of the show. Marquess axed numerous characters and replaced them with new families. Fletcher began filming in June 2010, the same month her casting was publicised. Diane was introduced with her husband, Rob and stepchildren, Sinead and Finn O'Connor. The O'Connors are one of three families that were introduced 2010. Diane is characterised as a "loving wife" and a "devoted stepmum". Fletcher initially hoped that Diane would be likeable, despite her over the top demeanour. Fletcher believed Diane has a good relationship with her step-children and was loathe to portray her as "the wicked stepmother".

<i>Hollyoaks Later</i> series 6 British television series (2013)

The sixth series of Hollyoaks Later is a British television series and late night spin-off of Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks. The series consists of five episodes, which aired from 7 October to 11 October 2013, on E4. The series transmitted to concur with the main show's eighteenth anniversary and acted as "a celebration of Hollyoaks past and present". These celebrations included several former cast members returning for the series as part of original character Tony Hutchinson's storyline. These returns included Jeremy Edwards, James Redmond, John Pickard and Sarah Jayne Dunn.
