List of radio stations in Hungary

Hungary uses the FM band for commercial and public broadcasting, plus the AM band for the main state radio station and state-run ethnic programs. There are three types of licences defined in the media law: public service, commercial and community, although they do not necessarily correspond to the everyday meanings of these terms.

Types of radio stations defined by the Hungarian media authority are as follows: public service,^[1] national commercial,^[2] regional,^[3] local,^[4] small community.^[5]

Internet-only stations are not included in this list (except the state-run parliamentary channel).

Modern telecommunications in Thailand began in 1875 with the deployment of the first telegraph service. Historically, the development of telecommunication networks in Thailand were in the hands of the public sector. Government organisations were established to provide telegraph, telephone, radio, and television services, and other government agencies, especially the military, still control a large estate of radio and television spectra. Private telecommunication operators initially acquired concession agreements with state enterprises. For mobile phone services, all the concessions have been amended by successive government to last 25 years have gradually ended in 2015. For other services, the concession terms and conditions vary, ranging from one to fifteen years. Nearly all of the concessions are build-operate-transfer (BTO) contracts. The private investor has to build all the required facilities and transfer them to the state before they can operate or offer services to public.

Terrestrial television is a type of television broadcasting in which the television signal is transmitted by radio waves from the terrestrial (Earth-based) transmitter of a television station to a TV receiver having an antenna. The term terrestrial is more common in Europe and Latin America, while in Canada and the United States it is called broadcast or over-the-air television (OTA). Low-power broadcasting is broadcasting by a broadcast station at a low transmitter power output to a smaller service area than "full power" stations within the same region. It is often distinguished from "micropower broadcasting" and broadcast translators. LPAM, LPFM and LPTV are in various levels of use across the world, varying widely based on the laws and their enforcement.

ATV is the first Hungarian private TV channel, broadcasting continuously since 1989. The focus of programming is news, public life, current events. Licensed as a partially public service commercial television station, it is obliged to broadcasting public interest programs 50% of the time. Because of this special status, the channel is eligible to apply for grants from the government and the radio and television authority. As of 2003 the owner of the channel is the Hungarian Faith Church. It is the first private TV channel in Hungary, being established in late 1989 and airing ever since.

Médiaszolgáltatás-támogató és Vagyonkezelő Alap (MTVA) is a Hungarian fund company owned and financed by the Hungarian state, through the State Office of Media and Communications (NMHH). MTVA was established on 1 January 2011, and from July 2015 the company's main task has been to finance and operate Duna Media Service, Hungary's public-service broadcasting company. It is an active member of the European Broadcasting Union.
