This article provides an overview of education in Wales from early childhood to university and adult skills. Largely state funded and free-at-the-point-of-use at a primary and secondary level, education is compulsory for children in Wales aged five to sixteen years old. It differs to some extent in structure and content to other parts of the United Kingdom, in the later case particularly in relation to the teaching of the Welsh language.
Welshpool is a market town and community in Powys, Wales, historically in the county of Montgomeryshire. The town is four miles from the Wales–England border and low-lying on the River Severn. The community, which also includes Cloddiau and Pool Quay, has a population of 6,664, with the town having 5,948. There are many examples of Georgian architecture within the town. Powis Castle is located to the north.
Builth Wells is a market town and community in the county of Powys and historic county of Brecknockshire (Breconshire), mid Wales, lying at the confluence of rivers Wye and Irfon, in the Welsh part of the Wye Valley. In 2011 it had a population of 2,568.

Olchfa School is a pioneer school and the largest secondary school in Swansea, South Wales, with approximately 1,700 pupils, including 357 in the Sixth Form. Situated in Sketty Park to the west of Sketty, it provides secondary education for GCSE and A-Level qualifications. Olchfa means 'washing place' in the English language.
Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf is a Welsh-medium coeducational secondary school in Llandaff North, a district in the north of Cardiff, Wales; it is the largest of its kind in the country. Of the three Welsh-medium secondary schools serving Cardiff, it was the first to be established; the others are Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Plasmawr and Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bro Edern. As of 2017, 36% of pupils came from Welsh-speaking homes.
Ysgol Dyffryn Aman is a bilingual comprehensive school and sixth form. On average, it has about 2000 pupils. It is located on Margaret Street in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire, Wales. The school was the site of a stabbing incident in which three people were injured on 24 April 2024.
Llanrug is a medium-sized village and community in Gwynedd, north-west Wales. It lies about 4 miles (6.4 km) to the east of Caernarfon, 7 miles (11 km) south of Bangor and 3 miles (4.8 km) northwest of Llanberis. It is the largest populated village in the Arfon area of Gwynedd, Wales. The old name of the village was Llanfihangel-y-Rug, derived from Eglwys Sant Mihangel, which is situated about half a mile west of the village.

Llanfyllin High School was a bilingual secondary school situated in the mid-Wales town of Llanfyllin. As of its final Estyn inspection in February 2016, it had 824 pupils, down from 1,001 in 2009.

Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bro Edern is a mixed, Welsh-medium secondary school for pupils between 11 and 19 years old. The school is situated in Penylan, Cardiff, Wales. As of 2022, it had 907 pupils on roll, with 131 pupils in the sixth form. 18 per cent of pupils came from Welsh-speaking homes in 2017.
Cantonian High School is an English-medium 11-18 community school maintained by Cardiff local authority. It is located in Fairwater and serves the surrounding area in the west of Cardiff, Wales. There are currently more than 1000 pupils on roll and the school is continually growing. Although in the past it has often struggled, it has progressed significantly in recent years, and performed well in its most recent Estyn inspections, earning the title Cardiff's most improved school in Wales Online.
Ysgol Calon Cymru is a bilingual secondary comprehensive school with campuses in Builth Wells and Llandrindod Wells, Powys, mid Wales. It replaced Builth Wells High School and Llandrindod High School and opened at the former schools' sites in September 2018.
