Lorenzo Caccialanza (born January 28, 1955) is an Italian-born American football goalkeeper and actor.

Career

Football

Caccialanza played for several years in the Italian leagues before moving to the United States to pursue an acting career. In 1986, he played for the Hollywood Kickers when they won the Western Soccer Alliance championship. Caccialanza was the league leading goalkeeper. [1] [2]

Acting

As an actor, Caccialanza is best known for his work on the CBS prime time soap opera Knots Landing as Nick Schillace, the gigolo boyfriend of Anne Matheson (played by Michelle Phillips). Caccialanza has also appeared on the daytime soap operas, Days of Our Lives and The Bold and the Beautiful . He played the Italian terrorist Marco in Die Hard .

Personal life

Jane Fonda dated Caccialanza for about six months beginning in 1989. She broke up with him and began a relationship with businessman Ted Turner in the middle of 1990. [4]

Western Soccer Alliance was a professional soccer league featuring teams from the West Coast of the United States and Western Canada. The league began in 1985 as the Western Alliance Challenge Series. In 1986, it became the Western Soccer Alliance. In 1989, it existed for a single year as the Western Soccer League before merging with the American Soccer League to form the American Professional Soccer League in 1990.

California Kickers were a soccer club based in Hollywood, California. They joined the Western Soccer Alliance in 1986. They initially played as Hollywood Kickers before changing their name for the following season. In 1990 the team name was changed again, becoming the California Emperors when they joined the American Professional Soccer League. After the 1991 season, the team left the league to become an amateur club. In 1986 the first year the Kickers held open tryouts for the highest adult level players along with Collegiate players looking to play professional soccer, which was scarce once NASL folded their teams. On this first roster, there were standout local plays like: Martin Vasgues, Alberto Bru Steve Singleman, and Mike Page, Mike Getchel (UCLA), Paul Krumpe (UCLA), Steve Ledezzma, Rudy Ybarra, Armando Ceja, Daniel Behrendt, Brian Myrdal Getulio Short season and no playoffs the Hollywood Kickers played consistently to win the first title of the Western Soccer Alliance expansion.
