Maddie Rice is an American guitarist. She performed several years with Jon Batiste's Stay Human, the house band for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert . She currently plays with the Saturday Night Live Band.
Rice grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, and attended Judge Memorial Catholic High School. She started playing guitar at age 13, studying at the School of Rock. [1] Rice moved to Boston, Massachusetts for college, where she attended the Berklee College of Music. She left Berklee after her sophomore year to move to Los Angeles. [1] [2]
In 2015, at the age of 22, she started playing guitar for Stay Human, the house band for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert . [1] [3] Since 2020, she has been part of the Saturday Night Live Band. [4]
Maddie has toured with various artists, [5] including Korean pop singer Taeyang, [5] indie-dance pop band Rubblebucket and electronic dance music artist Big Wild. [5]

The Apples in Stereo are an American indie rock band associated with Elephant 6 Collective, a group of bands also including Neutral Milk Hotel, the Olivia Tremor Control, Elf Power, Of Montreal, and Circulatory System. The band is largely a product of lead vocalist/guitarist/producer Robert Schneider, who writes the majority of the band's music and lyrics. JJ Appleton, born Jon Jason Appleton, is an American musician and singer-songwriter based in New York City who has toured throughout the United States extensively in support of his own records and also with other bands including Jamie Cullum, Newton Faulkner, Pete Yorn, Edwin McCain, Sister Hazel, Joan Osborne, Keb Mo, Hootie and the Blowfish. Appleton has been described by The Washington Post as a songwriter with a "pop-rock sound but with considerably more edgy energy, adding figurative lightning to the stormy night." Previously a member of the popular New York band The Grasshoppers, Appleton released his first solo album 500 Moments in 2003 which led to appearances on the NBC television show Last Call with Carson Daly, a feature on E!'s Wild On, and a national affiliation with Budweiser's True Music Live program and Gibson Guitars. Appleton released his album Uphill to Purgatory in the United States in 2005 which was then re-released in the United Kingdom in 2006 as Someone Else's Problem and included three songs from the 500 Moments EP. Based on the recognition he was receiving in England, Appleton decided to move to London in 2006 where he became a regularly featured performer at popular venues such as Ronnie Scott's, The Borderline, and The Regal Room. In the meantime, the single "Walk Into The Room" and its accompanying video became a favorite on English radio and MTV Two. In 2015, Appleton released an acoustic blues album entitled Dirty Memory with harmonicist Jason Ricci.

The Late Show Band is a band originally founded and led by American musician Jon Batiste as Stay Human. They became the house band for Stephen Colbert's late-night talk show The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on September 8, 2015. When Batiste departed the show on August 12, 2022, Louis Cato became the new bandleader and Stay Human was renamed The Late Show Band, a change that took effect on September 6, 2022.
