Malik Washington (born January 4, 2001) is an American football wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL). He previously played college football for Northwestern and Virginia.
Washington was born in Lawrenceville, Georgia and attended Parkview High School. In Washington's high school career, he hauled in 130 receptions for 1,958 yards and 12 touchdowns, while also rushing for 687 yards and 16 touchdowns. Washington would also play a little quarterback where he completed 17 of his 27 passing attempts for 149 yards and four touchdowns with one interception. On defense Washington tallied 117 tackles with 2.5 tackles going for a loss, nine pass deflections, eight interceptions, two fumble recoveries, and a forced fumble. [1] Washington would decide to commit to play college football at Northwestern University over other programs such as Michigan State and Tennessee. [2] [3]
In Washington's first season in 2019, he had six receptions for 25 yards. [4] In the COVID shortened 2020 season, Washington brought in five passes for 51 yards, while also recording on rush for eight yards. [5] In week seven of the 2021 season, Washington had a breakout game hauling in five receptions for 84 yards and a touchdown, as he helped the Wildcats beat Rutgers. [6] In week three of the 2022 season, Washington notched four receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown, but Northwestern would fall to Southern Illinois 31-24. [7] Washington would finished the 2022 season as his best, where he totalled 65 receptions for 694 yards and a touchdown, while also adding 16 yards on the ground. [8] For his performance on the season, Washington was named third team all Big Ten by pro football focus. [9] After the conclusion of the 2022 season, Washington would decide to enter the NCAA transfer portal. [10] [11]
Washington would decide to transfer to the University of Virginia to continue his collegiate career. [12] [13] Washington would start the 2023 season strong as in week two versus James Madison he brought in five passes for 119 yards and a touchdowns, and in week three against Maryland he notched nine receptions for 141 yards. [14] In week four, Washington would have a career performance, totaling ten catches for 170 yards and two touchdowns, but the Cavaliers would fall to NC State. [15] For his performance on the game, Washington was named the ACC wide receiver of the week. [16] For the season, Washington finished with 110 receptions for 1426 yards and 9 touchdowns. [17]

Washington was selected in the sixth round (184th overall) of the 2024 NFL draft by the Miami Dolphins. [20]
