Marina Dimitrijevic (born 1981) is an American politician from Wisconsin and the Milwaukee Common Council member for the 14th Aldermanic District, serving since 2020. Previously, Dimitrijevic served on the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors from 2004 to 2020, including as board chairwoman from 2012 to 2015. A Democrat, Dimitrijevic has also worked as the executive director of the Wisconsin Working Families Party.
Dimitrijevic (Serbian : Марина Димитријевић / Dimitrijević) is the daughter of Serbian immigrants. [1] She is a graduate of Bay View High School and holds a master's degree in nonprofit management from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. [2]
In 2004, Dimitrijevic became the youngest woman to serve on the County Board when she was elected to represent District 4, centered on the Bay View neighborhood. [3] In 2014, Dimitrijevic sought the Democratic nomination for Wisconsin State Assembly District 19. [4] She was endorsed by Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and U.S. Representative Gwen Moore but was defeated by legislative aide Jonathan Brostoff. [5]
Dimitrijevic is considered a political opponent of former Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele. [6] [7]
Tapped to lead the Wisconsin branch of the Working Families Party, Dimitrijevic announced on July 24, 2015, that she would resign as board chairwoman effective July 30. [8]
In 2019, Dimitrijevic announced a bid for the Milwaukee Common Council. She was endorsed by Nikiya Dodd and outgoing incumbent Tony Zielinski and defeated challenger Jason Auerbach in the April general election [9] to become an alderwoman for Milwaukee's 14th District. [2]

Dodd, formerly Nikiya Harris is a Wisconsin educator and politician who formerly served as a county supervisor of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin from 2010 through 2012, and as a Democratic member of the Wisconsin State Senate representing the 6th Senate district from 2013 to 2017. The 2022 Milwaukee mayoral special election was held on April 5, 2022, concurrent with Wisconsin's spring general election, to elect a new mayor of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, following the resignation of mayor Tom Barrett in December 2021. Acting mayor Cavalier Johnson, who had been president of the common council when Barrett resigned, won the election, receiving 71% of the vote and defeating alderman Bob Donovan. Johnson became the first African American elected mayor of Milwaukee.
