Mass United Rush FC, formerly Mass United FC was an American soccer team based in Lynn, Massachusetts, United States.

History

Founded in 2009, the team made its debut in the Northeast – Atlantic Conference of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), [1] the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid, in 2011. In March 2011, Mass United FC, announced [2] its 2011 NPSL schedule to be played at the City of Lynn's Manning Field.

The club's colors were "United Blue", yellow and white.

The club also operated teams in the Bay State Soccer League (BSSL) and the Massachusetts State Soccer League (MSSL), as well as an indoor team in the MSSL.

Mass United FC declared that it will sit out the 2013 NPSL season. [3] It was later announced the club would be part of the inaugural season of the relaunched American Soccer League in 2014, signing Trinibagonian Kareem Smith. [4] The league folded in 2017.

Soccer has enjoyed longstanding popularity in Los Angeles. As of 2018, there are two professional soccer clubs in Los Angeles County that play in Major League Soccer: LA Galaxy and Los Angeles FC. There are also many semi-professional clubs and leagues including the United Premier Soccer League, SoCal Premier League and National Premier Soccer League, among others. In 2019, two more professional teams, Cal FC and California United Strikers FC joined a new, unsanctioned, professional league called the NPSL Founders Cup They both later left, with Cal FC joining the United Premier Soccer League. Angel City FC plans to start to play in the National Women's Soccer League, the only fully professional women's league in the U.S., in 2022.

The 2020 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup was planned to be the 107th edition of the U.S. Open Cup, a knockout cup competition in American soccer. Atlanta United FC were the defending champions after defeating Minnesota United FC in the 2019 final. The competition was suspended on March 13, 2020, before the first round fixtures, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and later canceled on August 17. Despite the tournament's cancelation, the spot for the 2021 CONCACAF Champions League was awarded to the defending champions, Atlanta United FC.
