Abdul Aziz Said was Professor Emeritus of International Relations in the School of International Service at American University, Washington, D.C., and founding Director of the university's International Peace and Conflict Resolution Division. Said was well known for helping shift the focus of International Relations theory from real politic-based on the concept that the law of power governs states, to new world order-based on cooperation and common security. Starting in the 1990s Said focused his work on peace and conflict resolution and later explored the relationship between spirituality and religion in international politics.

Brenda Shaffer is an American scholar who holds positions as Fellow with the Atlantic Council and professor at University of Haifa. Shaffer was the former research director of the Caspian Studies Program at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government and past president of the Foreign Policy Section of the American Political Science Association. She specializes on energy in international relations and energy policy in the Caspian region and has written or edited several books of these topics, including "Energy Politics" and "Beyond the Resource Curse." Shaffer has also written a number of books on the topic of identity and culture in the Caucasus including explorations of Azeri literature and culture. She has been accused of lobbying for Azerbaijan and failing to disclose conflicts of interest.
Ahmed Shaheed is a Maldivian diplomat, politician and professor. On 24 March 2016, he was appointed for the sixth year running as the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Dr Shaheed is also the Chairperson of the Geneva-based international human rights think-tank, Universal Rights Group, which was launched in January 2014. He now lives in England, as Visiting Professor of Human Rights Practice at the University of Essex.

Professor Hossein Sadri is an Iranian Azerbaijani, and Turkish scholar, architect, urban designer and activist. He is currently working as a senior lecturer in the School of Art & Design at Coventry University. Between 2010 and 2021, he worked as a full professor of architecture and urban design at Girne American University where he held the position of the dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Design & Fine Arts between 2012-2016. He held also academic teaching and research positions at Islamic Azad University of Tabriz in IRAN (2003-2005), National Academy of Sciences in AZERBAIJAN (2006), The American University in Canterbury - UK (2011), and The City University of New York in the USA (2018). He studied undergraduate and graduate courses in the departments of Architecture, Philosophy, and Environmental Sciences and Policy at Islamic Azad University of Tabriz in IRAN (1997-2005), Gazi University (2006-2010), Hacettepe University (2007), and Yildiz Technical University (2007) in TURKEY, and Central European University in HUNGARY. His Ph.D. dissertation entitled Architecture and Human Rights was an interdisciplinary studies on the spatiality of human rights. He is one of the founding members of AUMME, the regional academic and professional network in the field of architecture and the chair of its 2nd conference in 2014. As the chair of the second CAUMME-Contemporary Architecture and Urbanism in the Mediterranean and the Middle-East International Conference, he opened up discussions regarding the end of the era of professionalism in architecture by introducing the term “Post-Professionalism”. He co-edited Cities without Capitalism, foreword by Peter Marcuse and published by Routledge in 2022.
