Personal life

Harris is married with two children. After leaving the NFL, Harris, his wife, and sons where he became the owner of two Beggars Pizza locations. [10]

Illinois Senate

In 2011, after Illinois State Senator James Meeks announced his retirement, Harris chose to run to succeed him in the 15th district on a platform of creating economic growth for the district. [10] He won the 2012 primary with a plurality of the vote against two opponents, [11] and ran in the general election unopposed. [12]

While a member of the Illinois Senate, Harris has run for higher office on two occasions. In 2013, Harris ran for the congressional seat vacated by Jesse Jackson Jr., [14] but dropped out after two months, endorsing Robin Kelly. [15] In 2015, he announced his candidacy in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate in 2016. [16] He would come in third place, losing to Tammy Duckworth, who would go on to win the general election.

After the death of longtime Thornton Township Democratic Committeeman Frank Zuccarelli, Harris defeated State Representative Thaddeus Jones for the position. [17]

Following his retirement, Brooks served as co-owner and president of the Tampa Bay Storm in the Arena Football League (AFL) from 2011 to 2017. He was inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014 and the College Football Hall of Fame in 2016.

Tatum was voted to three consecutive Pro Bowls (1973–1975) and played on one Super Bowl-winning team in nine seasons with the Raiders. He’s also known for a hit he made against New England Patriots wide receiver Darryl Stingley in a 1978 preseason game that paralyzed Stingley from the neck down. He won a national championship at Ohio State.

He also played 6 games for the Oakland Raiders.

Samuel Cowart III is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker for eight seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Florida State Seminoles, earning consensus All-American honors. A second-round pick in the 1998 NFL Draft, he played professionally for the Buffalo Bills, New York Jets, and Minnesota Vikings of the NFL. Cowart was a Pro Bowl selection in 2000.

Daniel Joseph Conners was an American professional football linebacker who played 11 seasons for the Oakland Raiders of the American Football League (AFL) from 1964 through 1969, and later in the National Football League (NFL) from 1970 through 1974. He played college football for the Miami Hurricanes and is enshrined in their Hall of Fame.

Bill Cunningham is a Democratic member of the Illinois Senate, representing the 18th District.
