Richard Alvin Petitbon is an American former football player and coach in the National Football League (NFL). Petitbon first attended Loyola University New Orleans on a track and field scholarship and left after his freshman year to play college football for the Tulane Green Wave. After playing as a quarterback at Tulane, he played as a safety for the Chicago Bears from 1959 to 1968, the Los Angeles Rams in 1969 and 1970, and the Washington Redskins in 1971 and 1972. Petitbon recorded the second most interceptions in Bears history with 38 during his career, trailing Gary Fencik. Petitbon also holds the Bears' record for the longest interception return, after scoring on a 101-yard return against the Rams in 1962. As of 2019, he also holds the Bears record for the most interceptions in a game—3 against the Green Bay Packers in 1967—and most interception return yards in a season.

Matthew Garrett Forte is an American former professional football player who was a running back for ten seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Tulane Green Wave and was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft. Forte established himself as a dual-threat running back capable of earning yards as a rusher and receiver. He is one of only three players on the "1,000-yard rushing, 100-catch season" club. Forte spent eight seasons with the Bears before playing for the New York Jets for two seasons.
The 1980 Tulane Green Wave football team represented Tulane University in the 1980 NCAA Division I-A football season. The team was led by first-year coach Vince Gibson. The Green Wave played home games in the Louisiana Superdome and finished with a 7–5 record, losing to Arkansas 15–34 in the Hall of Fame Classic. In the 78th edition of the Battle for the Flag, Tulane lost 7–24 to LSU. Throughout the season the offense scored 279 points, while the defense allowed 243 points. Two members of the Green Wave team were drafted into the National Football League (NFL).

He was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the 12th round of the 1981 NFL Draft, but remained a practice squad member during his one year with the team. He played college football for the Tennessee State Tigers. Adams garnered the nickname "747" in reference to the Boeing 747 aircraft. He was announced as one of seven Class of 2024 inductees into the Black College Football Hall of Fame on December 14, 2023.
Danny Sanders is a former American football quarterback who played two seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL) with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Saskatchewan Roughriders. He was drafted by the New York Jets in the eleventh round of the 1979 NFL Draft. He played college football at Carson–Newman University. Sanders was inducted into the South Atlantic Conference Hall of Fame in 2008 and the Carson-Newman Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010.
Frank Toto'a Manumaleuna was an American football linebacker who played three seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Chiefs in the fourth round of the 1979 NFL Draft. He first enrolled at the University of California, Los Angeles before transferring to De Anza College and lastly San José State University. Manumaleuna attended Phineas Banning High School in Los Angeles, California. He was also a member of the Oakland Invaders and Portland Breakers of the United States Football League (USFL). Manumaleuna died on June 1, 2022, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Darnell Mooney is an American football wide receiver for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Tulane.
