Nicola Charles (born {22 December 1969}) is a British-Australian actress (Twitter X the moniker The White Rabbit), and author. She is known for her role as Sarah Beaumont in the Australian soap opera Neighbours .

Early life

Nicola Charles was born and raised in Worcestershire, England, [1] around 1970, [2] to a microbiologist and professional racer. [1] [ clarification needed ] She moved to London in 1987. [1]

Acting career

Charles started her career in British television commercials, having been chosen as the face to launch Coca-Cola's new flagship brand Sprite. She continued in commercials and modelling work. [1]

After moving to Australia in the mid-1990s with then boyfriend Scott Michaelson, she landed her first acting role. Having turned up at Grundy Television studios auditioning for game show The Price is Right , Charles was noticed by casting director Jan Russ and invited to read for a part on Neighbours , [3] [1] and was offered the role of Sarah Beaumont. [4]

Charles left Neighbours in 1999. After having little success in furthering her own career, she relocated to Los Angeles.

In 2009, she had a supporting role in the 2011 comedy film For Christ's Sake . [5]

Charles returned to Melbourne in early 2012, [6] and in 2013 reprised her role in Neighbours . [4] [2]

Other activities

In 2001, Charles finished writing and recording an album called Listening in Color in London. The album was mixed by prominent sound engineer Chris Lord-Alge in Los Angeles, but not released by Mushroom Records UK. [7]

Charles has penned two novels, Click Monkey: Who Do You Trust with Your Kids? (2019), and The Witches of Toorak (2020). In July 2020 Charles bought the publisher of her books, Shield-Maiden Publishing, becoming CEO and sole owner. [1]

She became known as a conspiracy theorist during the COVID-19 pandemic, calling herself "The White Rabbit". In the lead-up to the 2023 Australian Indigenous Voice referendum, she created a video incorrectly claiming that the establishment of the Voice would lead to the UN taking over land in Australia, appointing "one man and one woman in every district". Personal life

Charles married kickboxing champion Sean Cochrane in March 1993. [9]

On 1 June 2012, Charles married DJ Mark Tabberner in Caulfield. [10] Charles and Tabberner have a son. [10] [11]

Libby Kennedy is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Neighbours, played by Kym Valentine. She made her first appearance during the episode broadcast on 3 October 1994. Valentine auditioned for the role when she was 15, and upon being cast as Libby, she relocated from Sydney to Melbourne, where the show is filmed. Libby was introduced along with her parents and brothers during a period of low ratings for the show. Valentine departed on 2 October 2003, before returning for six months the following year and a single episode on 27 July 2005. She returned on a permanent basis on 12 November 2007.

The actress received the role of Sarah and made her first screen appearance during the episode broadcast on 25 September 1996. In January 1999, it was announced that Charles had decided to quit Neighbours to move to London with her then fiancé. She filmed her final scenes in April 1999 and Sarah departed on-screen on 13 July 1999. Charles later appeared in the show's 20th anniversary episode, which was broadcast in July 2005. Charles reprised the role in 2012 and Sarah made a six-week return from 4 February 2013. She returned again from 5 April 2016.

Carmella was created as a replacement for Nina Tucker, portrayed by Delta Goodrem, who was written out of the series when Goodrem became ill. Her early storylines, including a romance with Connor O'Neill, were originally intended for Nina. The daughter of a protective gangster father, Carmella was initially a "fun, feisty" character. She gradually became "tortured [and] depressive", with storylines which saw her attract the attention of a stalker, become a nun, suffer facial scarring, develop an addiction to prescription medication and lose her husband after a bushfire.

She was initially contracted for six weeks, but this was extended after she impressed the producers with her performance. Goldsmith filmed her final scenes in January 2009 and Cassandra's departure was aired on 29 April 2009.

The Kennedy family are a fictional family from the Australian soap opera Neighbours. They have been a large part of the show since 1994, when the five-strong family moved into Ramsay Street. Both Karl Kennedy and his wife Susan celebrated 20 years on the show in 2014, and are stalwarts of the fictional Erinsborough community, with Karl serving as the area's doctor and Susan as principal of Erinsborough High. They have earned multiple award nominations for their roles. The Kennedy family has expanded to introduce several others since its conception, although plays a relatively minor role as of 2014, with Karl and Susan as the only members of their family still residing in Ramsay Street.
