Oakland Community Unit School District 5 is a small unified school district based in the village of Oakland, a small community in the northeastern reaches of Coles County, Illinois; its small student body and few schools suggests that most of the Coles County population centers have already been staked by the other two school districts in the county -- Charleston Community Unit School District 1 and Mattoon Community Unit School District 2. Oakland Community Unit School District 5 is composed of two schools; one school is a combined elementary and junior high school, and the other is a senior high school; students in kindergarten and grades one though eight attend Lake Crest Elementary School, which is under the direction of principal Jim Eastin. [2] Graduates move forward to attend nearby Oakland High School, which educates those in grades nine though twelve; students in this district may then pursue a collegiate education. Oakland High School is governed by the same principal as Lake Crest Elementary School, Jim Eastin. [3] The district superintendent is named Michael Smith, [4] and the districtwide mascot is the Titan. [5]

GreatSchools.net ranked Lake Crest Elementary School at a seven on a scale out of ten; the district's average ISAT scores ranged over a period of time from a 41% mathematics average in the year 2005 to several 100% averages scattered across the past three years in both mathematics and reading.

According to the front page as of the 2007–08 school year, the district is collaborating with Kansas Community Unit School District 3 over the subject of athletics. This partnership has been ongoing since the 2003–04 school year. Athletic teams compete under the name of Tri-County; the mascot is the Titan.

Bond County Community Unit School District 2 is a unified school district based in Greenville, a city located in central Bond County, Illinois that serves as its county seat. Today, the district is composed of five schools; Greenville Elementary School, a NASA Explorer school that serves grades Pre-K through 5; Pocahontas Elementary School, which serves grades Pre-K through 8; Sorento Elementary School, which serves grades K-8; Greenville Junior High School, a school that means to bridge Greenville Elementary and Greenville High by serving grades 6-8; and lastly, Greenville High School, of which all the schools ultimately feed into, serving grades 9-12. Kildeer Countryside Community Consolidated School District 96 is a K-8 school district centered in the Lake County village of Long Grove, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. This district is composed of seven schools in total, or one kindergarten center, four elementary schools, and two middle schools; any students attending District 96 will ultimately attend Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Illinois. North Boone Community Unit School District 200 is a unified school district based in the central region of the county of its namesake, Boone County; more specifically, in the village of Poplar Grove, Illinois. Diamond Lake School District 76 is a PK-8 school district centered on the village of Mundelein, Illinois, which is located in central Lake County. The district mainly feeds into Mundelein High School in Mundelein, Illinois with some students feeding into Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Illinois after the eighth grade. Fisher Community Unit School District 1, a district of just under 700 students, is composed of two schools: one consolidated elementary and middle school, and one consolidated junior and senior high school. the first branch of education that can be taken in District 1 will be taken in Fisher Grade School, a school that serves first through sixth graders alongside kindergarteners; the current principal is Jake Palmer; the mascot of the school is the bunnies. Neoga Community Unit School District 3 is a unified school district located in the central Illinois city of Neoga, for which the district is named. Neoga, in turn, is a city located in northwestern Cumberland County. The district is composed of two schools: one elementary school and one junior-senior high school compose the unified district. Education begins at Neoga Elementary School, where children in grades ranging from kindergarten to five are educated; the school also runs a prekindergarten program. The last branch of precollegiate education in the district takes place at the combined Neoga Junior/Senior High School, and students in grades six through twelve are taught in this facility. The district's mascot is the Indian.

Charleston Community Unit School District 1 is a unified school district based in Charleston, the county seat of Coles County, Illinois.

McLean County Unit District No. 5 is a unit school district in McLean County, Illinois and a small portion of Woodford County, Illinois.

Community Consolidated School District 89 is an elementary school district headquartered in the CCSD89 Administration Center in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. In addition to Glen Ellyn, it also serves sections of Lombard and Wheaton.
