The Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) is a part of the Office of Justice Programs, within the U.S. Department of Justice.

The OVC's mission is to provide aid and promote justice for crime victims.

The office was created in 1988 in an amendment to the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) of 1984.

OVC sponsors the annual Crime Victims' Rights Week that promotes victims' rights and services.

Jessica E. Hart was appointed to the role of Director by President Donald Trump and sworn in on March 31, 2020. [1] She left office on January 20, 2021. Between January and July 2021, the office was led by Acting Director Katherine Darke Schmitt. [2]

Kristina Rose is the current Director, appointed by President Joe Biden and sworn into the position on July 12, 2021. [3] Rose previously served as acting director and deputy director for the National Institute of Justice, and as the Chief of Staff for the Office on Violence Against Women.

The Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) of the U.S. Department of Justice is the principal federal agency responsible for measuring crime, criminal victimization, criminal offenders, victims of crime, correlates of crime, and the operation of criminal and civil justice systems at the federal, state, tribal, and local levels. Established on December 27, 1979, BJS collects, analyzes, and publishes data relating to crime in the United States. The agency publishes data regarding statistics gathered from the roughly fifty-thousand agencies, offices, courts, and institutions that together comprise the U.S. justice system.

Mohammad Hanif Atmar Afghan politician

Mohammad Haneef Atmar is the former Minister of Foreign Affairs and a former Interior Minister of Afghanistan. He was removed from the Ministry of Interior Affairs by Hamid Karzai in the wake of attacks on the June 2010 Afghan Peace Jirga. Myint Swe is a Burmese politician currently serving as Acting President of Myanmar as well as First Vice President. The Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE) Office was a U.S. government agency established within the Department of Homeland Security under the Trump administration in February 2017. President Donald Trump directed it be established by Executive Order 13768. The office was dissolved by the Biden administration on June 11, 2021, replaced by the Victims Engagement and Services Line (VESL).
