The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) is an athletic conference that competes in the NCAA's Division III. There are nine teams in the conference, all located in the states of Michigan and Indiana. The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association was established on March 24, 1888, making it the oldest college athletic conference in the United States. The current members of the MIAA include Adrian College, Albion College, Alma College, Calvin University, Hope College, Kalamazoo College, Olivet College, Saint Mary's College of Notre Dame, Indiana, and Trine University, formerly known as Tri-State University. Olivet, Alma and Albion are the only charter members remaining in the conference. Former members include such colleges as Michigan State University, previously Michigan Agricultural College, (1888–1907), Eastern Michigan University, previously Michigan State Normal College, (1892–1926), Hillsdale College (1888–1961), and Defiance College (1997–2000).
Olivet Nazarene University (ONU) is a private Nazarene university in Bourbonnais, Illinois. Named for its founding location, Olivet, Illinois, ONU was originally established as a grammar school in east-central Illinois in 1907. In the late 1930s, it moved to the campus in Bourbonnais. The university is affiliated with the Church of the Nazarene and is the annual site of the church's Regional Celebrate Life youth gathering for the Central USA Region.
Olivet College is a private Christian college in Olivet, Michigan. The college is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. It was founded in 1844 by missionaries from Oberlin College, and it followed Oberlin in becoming the second coeducational college or university in the United States. Olivet College is affiliated with the United Church of Christ and the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches and stands in the Reformed tradition of Protestantism.
Ron Lynch is a former American football coach. He served as the head coach at Hillsdale College from 1978 to 1979 and at Olivet College from 1980 to 1981, compiling a career college football record of 14–24–1. Lynch played college football at Olivet and coached high school football in Michigan and Texas.
The 1897 Michigan Agricultural Aggies football team was an American football team that represented Michigan Agricultural College (MAC), now known as Michigan State University, during the 1897 college football season. The Aggies compiled a 4–2–1 record and outscored their opponents 146 to 106.
The 1905 Michigan State Normal Normalites football team represented Michigan State Normal College during the 1905 college football season. In their second and final season under head coach Daniel H. Lawrence, the Normalites compiled a record of 4–4 and were outscored by their opponents by a combined total of 157 to 81. The team lost to Olivet College by a 69 to 0 score. William N. Braley was the team captain.
The 1921 Central Michigan Normalites football team represented Central Michigan Normal School, later renamed Central Michigan University, as an independent during the 1921 college football season. In their first season under head coach Wallace Parker, the Central Michigan football team compiled a 7–2–1 record and shut out eight of ten opponents. The team's victories included games with Ferris Institute, Olivet College (25–0), Grand Rapids Junior College (7–0), and Alma (29–0). The team also played Detroit City College to a scoreless tie and lost to the 1921 Michigan State Normal Normalites football team by a close 7–6 score.
The 2015 Olivet Comets football team, sometimes known as Team 115 in reference to the 115th season the Olivet football program had fielded a team, was an American football team that represented Olivet College during the 2015 NCAA Division III football season. The Comets play in the MIAA and played their home games at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet, Michigan. Olivet was led by Dan Pifer, who was in his fourth season.
The 2016 Olivet Comets football team, sometimes known as Team 116 in reference to the 116th season the Olivet football program had fielded a team, was an American football team that represented Olivet College during the 2016 NCAA Division III football season. The Comets play in the MIAA and played their home games at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet, Michigan. Olivet was led by Dan Pifer, who was in his fifth and final season with the Comets, as he would be hired by the Walsh University football team of the G-MAC to become their new head coach in December 2016. In January 2017, offensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator Dan Musielewicz was hired as the new head coach for the Comets.

Stuart Frank Parsell was an American football coach and college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach at Olivet College in Olivet, Michigan from 1959 to 1970, compiling a record of 47–57. Parsell was also the athletic director at Olivet from 1960 to 1971.

In addition, the outcome of a November 24 game against Notre Dame is disputed with some sources listing it as a 12–10 victory by Hillsdale.

In their first season fielding a football team, the Kalamazoo eleven lost two games against Olivet College, being outscored 32 to 8 by their opponent. The first game, played October 24 at Olivet, was planned as a part of Olivet's field day of 1892, which also included boxing matches, tennis, and track and field events like the hammer throw and pole vaulting. During the contest, Kalamazoo took an early 4–0 lead, but allowed 20 answered points, 8 in the first half and 12 in the second.
