The Seabright Lawn Tennis and Cricket Club is a historic private sports club in Rumson, Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. Founded in 1877 and incorporated in 1886, it is one of the oldest active tennis clubs and claims to be the oldest lawn tennis club in the United States. Most of the club's present facilities were designated a National Historic Landmark in 1992 in recognition of this history.

From 1970 to 1974, it was an event on the Grand Prix tennis circuit. The women's event was on the same tours as the men except for when it became part of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Tour from 1971 to 1973. The men's edition was played until 1979, and the women's ended in 1983.
The South Orange Open, formerly known as the Eastern Grass Court Championships, is a defunct Grand Prix affiliated tennis tournament played from 1970 to 1983. It was held in South Orange, New Jersey in the United States and played on outdoor grass courts from 1970 to 1974, and then played on outdoor clay courts from 1975 to 1983. There were men's and women's singles tournaments as well as men's, women's, and mixed doubles.

It was part of the Eastern Grass Court Circuit, a series of grass court tournaments on the American Eastern Seaboard in the lead up to the U. S. National Championships which also included Rye/South Orange, Meadow Club, Newport Casino, and others.
The Morristown Field Club is a sports and social club located in Morristown, New Jersey. It was created in 1881 as the Morristown Lawn Tennis Club. It is the third oldest tennis club in New Jersey after the Seabright Lawn Tennis and Cricket Club and the Orange Lawn Tennis Club.

Alice (Francis) Constant Wolf (1907–1990) was a squash player and tennis player who competed in singles and doubles during the 1920s through 1940s. During her career, Wolf won five singles titles, three doubles titles, and four mixed double titles. She reached her highest rank of 10th in women's tennis in the U.S. in 1927. Competing with her husband, Henry, Wolf won the New Jersey State Mixed Doubles Championship at the Westfield Tennis Club in Westfield, New Jersey, four times.

Renshaw then won two other big tournaments of the year, the Irish Lawn Tennis Championships and Princes Club Championships, whilst Richard Taswell Richardson won the prestigious Northern Championships.

It was classified as a Group B category tournament and was part of the 1974 Grand Prix circuit. It was the fifth edition of the tournament on the Grand Prix circuit and was held from August 19 through August 25, 1974. Second-seeded Alex Metreveli won the singles title.
The Ilkley Open was a grass court tennis event founded in May 1885 as the Ilkley Tournament. It was held at the Ilkley Lawn Tennis Club (f.1880), Ilkley, West Yorkshire, England through until 1981, when the it failed to find any new sponsors the tournament ended.
