The National University of Ireland,Maynooth,commonly known as Maynooth University (MU),is a constituent university of the National University of Ireland in Maynooth,County Kildare,Ireland. It was Ireland's youngest university until Technological University Dublin was established in 2019,having been founded by the Universities Act,1997,from the secular faculties of the now separate St Patrick's College,Maynooth,which was founded in 1795. Maynooth is also the only university town in Ireland,all other universities being based within cities.
St Patrick's Pontifical University,Maynooth,is a pontifical Catholic university in the town of Maynooth near Dublin,Ireland. The college and national seminary on its grounds are often referred to as Maynooth College.

Desmond Fitzgerald is an Irish medical doctor and academic leader. On 6 October 2016,Fitzgerald was announced as the President-elect of the University of Limerick. Orla Hardiman (BSc MB BCh BAO MD FRCPI FAAN FTCD MRIA is an Irish consultant neurologist. She was appointed Professor of Neurology by Trinity College University of Dublin in 2014,where she heads the Academic Unit of Neurology,housed in Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute. She leads a team of over 40 researchers focusing on clinical and translational aspects of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and related neurodegenerations. She was the Health Service Executive National Clinical Lead for Neurology between 2019 and 2024. Hardiman has become a prominent advocate for neurological patients in Ireland,and for patients within the Irish health system generally. She was a co-founder of the Neurological Alliance of Ireland,an umbrella organisation for over 24 advocacy groups in Ireland.
The Ashbourne Cup is an Irish camogie tournament played each year to determine the national champion university or third level college. The Ashbourne Cup is the highest division in inter-collegiate camogie. The competition features many of the current stars of the game and is sometimes known as the 'Olympics of Camogie' because of the disproportionate number of All Star and All-Ireland elite level players who participate each year Since 1972 it has been administered by the Higher EducationArchived 31 May 2011 at the Wayback Machine committee of the Camogie Association. TU Dublin are the current champions,having won the Ashbourne cup in 2023.

Emma Caroline Teeling is an Irish zoologist,geneticist and genomicist,who specialises in the phylogenetics and genomics of bats. Her work includes understanding of the bat genome and study of how insights from other mammals such as bats might contribute to better understanding and management of ageing and a number of conditions,including deafness and blindness,in humans. She is the co-founder of the Bat1K project to map the genomes of all species of bat. She is also concerned with understanding of the places of bats in the environment and how to conserve their ecosystem.
Cillian de Gascun, MD,MRCPI,FRCPath,is an Irish consultant virologist who has served as Director of the National Virus Reference Laboratory in UCD since 2013. He previously served as the Chair of the NPHET Coronavirus Expert Advisory Group from 5 February 2020 to February 2022.
Linda E. Doyle is an Irish academic and educator who is the 45th Provost of Trinity College Dublin,the university's chief officer,having assumed the office in August 2021. An electrical engineer,she has had a long academic career at Trinity,from the 1990s,most recently as Professor of Engineering and the Arts,in addition to holding other management roles such as Dean of Research. She has also led one telecommunications research centre at the university,and was the founding director of another,the multi-institution organisation known as CONNECT. Doyle has worked as a member of regulatory and advisory bodies in both Ireland,on broadband network strategy,and the UK,on mobile spectrum allocation. She is or has also been a director of public outreach projects such as Science Gallery Dublin and its international network,of two non-profit art galleries,and of two university spin-off companies.

Brian Vohnsen is an Associate Professor of Physics at UCD in Dublin,Ireland specializing in optics. He is head of the Advanced Optical Imaging Group which he founded in 2008. He has received recognition for his ability to connect the field of biomedical optics and nano-optics. In 2021 he became a fellow of Optica for significant contributions to vision science,including photoreceptor optics and high resolution retinal imaging.
The Irish Chief Scientific Adviser (CSA) is an adviser on science and technology to the Government of Ireland. The role was created in 2004 and was to operate independently of government departments,but report to Cabinet Committee on Science and Technology.
Professor Breda Smyth is an Irish public health specialist who has served as Chief Medical Officer of Ireland since October 2022,having previously held the position on an interim basis. She is the first woman to hold the post. She previously was professor for public health medicine in NUI Galway and a consultant in public health in HSE West.
Sheila Willis is an Irish forensic scientist and was director general of Forensic Science Ireland from 2002 to 2016.
