The Philippine Baseball League was the top baseball league in the Philippines sanctioned by the Philippine Amateur Baseball Association. [1]

It was established in 2019 succeeding the Baseball Philippines league which folded in 2012 and the Charmain's and Commissioners' Cup of the Philippine Sports Commission in 2012. [1] The league shares names with a defunct baseball league of the same name which was active in the 1980s.

2019 season

Two conferences were held in 2019. [2] The first season and conference of the league commenced in January 2019. With six of the seven teams participating being collegiate teams also participating in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), the first conference also served as a pre-season event to the UAAP Season 81 baseball tournament. IPPC is the only non-UAAP team which comprises national team players not playing in the UAAP. [1] Adamson University were the inaugural champions of the league defeating the De La Salle University in a one-game final of the league's first conference. Adamson managed to reach the knock-out stages despite finishing third with a 3–3 record in the elimination round. [3]

The second conference of the league took place after the conclusion of the UAAP Baseball Championship. [4] The second conference which started on May 18, 2019 is an Open Conference which featured 12 teams. The tournament is intended as a means to select players for the Philippine national baseball team that will play in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games. [5]

Frederick "Derrick" S. Pumaren, better known on his nickname Manong Derrick, is a Filipino basketball coach who was recently the coach of the De La Salle Green Archers in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). He coached several teams in the UAAP, PBA, and PBL.

Marco Januz "Juno" Sauler is a basketball coach and former basketball player from the Philippines. He was a former head coach of the De La Salle University Green Archers, a collegiate team in the UAAP. Sauler is currently part of coaching staff of the Magnolia Hotshots in the Philippine Basketball Association.

Julia Melissa "Jia" Morado-De Guzman is a Filipino volleyball player. She was a member of the Ateneo Lady Eagles and was team's captain in the UAAP Season 79 Women's Volleyball tournament. In 2018 Jia was also a member of the Philippines Women's National Volleyball Team.

UAAP Season 79 is the 2016–2017 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). This season, hosted by the University of Santo Tomas officially opened on September 3, 2016. The opening ceremony was held at the UST Plaza Mayor at 3:00 pm with the formal introduction of ballroom dancing as a demonstration sport in this season by the host school University of Santo Tomas (UST) at España, Manila. The official ceremony started at 5:00 pm as there was a concert party themed "Dare to Dream" where the official theme song for the season was revealed. However, unlike in the previous years when the first double-header basketball games were held following the opening ceremonies, this year it was held the following day, September 4 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Wong was a member of the Ateneo de Manila University Lady Blue Eagles, the school's women's varsity volleyball team from 2016 to 2020. During Season 80 of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) in 2018, she won the Best Setter Award.
