Groningen is the northeasternmost province of the Netherlands. It borders on Friesland to the west, Drenthe to the south, the German state of Lower Saxony to the east, and the Wadden Sea to the north. As of January 2023, Groningen had a population of about 596,000, and a total area of 2,955 km2 (1,141 sq mi).

Overijssel is a province of the Netherlands located in the eastern part of the country. The province's name translates to "across the IJssel", from the perspective of the Episcopal principality of Utrecht by which it was held until 1528. The capital city of Overijssel is Zwolle and the largest city is Enschede. The province had a population of about 1,184,000 as of January 2023. The land mostly consists of grasslands and some forests ; it also borders a small part of the IJsselmeer to the west.
Ommen is a municipality and a Hanseatic city in the eastern Netherlands. It is located in the Vecht valley of the Salland region in Overijssel. Historical records first name Ommen in the early 12th century and it was officially founded as a city in 1248. The municipality had a population of 18,295 in 2021 and covers an area of 182.01 km2 (70.27 sq mi).

Borger is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Borger-Odoorn, and lies about 18 km east of Assen.
Odoorn is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Borger-Odoorn, and lies about nine km north of Emmen.
Nieuwlande is a Dutch village located in the north-eastern province of Drenthe situated in the municipality of Hoogeveen. The population, as of 2023 is 1419. Nieuwlande is one of only two villages in the world that collectively received the Righteous Among the Nations award for its Holocaust Rescue story where nearly all of the towns residents hid and saved the lives of hundreds of Jews as well as resistance fighters and German deserters during World War II.
Zwolle is the main railway station of Zwolle in Overijssel, Netherlands. The station opened on 6 June 1864 and is on the Utrecht–Kampen railway, also known as the Centraalspoorweg, the Zwolle–Almelo railway, the Arnhem–Leeuwarden railway, the Zwolle–Stadskanaal railway and the Lelystad–Zwolle railway, also known as the Hanzelijn.
Hardenberg is a city and municipality in the province of Overijssel, Eastern Netherlands. The municipality of Hardenberg has a population of about 60,000, with about 19,000 living in the city. It received city rights in 1362 from Jan van Arkel, Bishop of Utrecht. The famous Pieterpad passes through Hardenberg, a municipality which is located on the German border. A sizable portion of the population speaks Dutch Low Saxon as a native language.
European route E 233 is a west—east European Class-B road part of the International E-road network, running from Hoogeveen in the Netherlands to Cloppenburg in Germany, passing by the Dutch city of Emmen and the German city of Meppen. The road runs concurrently with four other roads over its course, first with the Dutch A37 from its western terminus to the German border, then with the German B402 up to Haselünne, from there on it follows B213 up to northern Cloppenburg, and on the last 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) of the B213 concurrency it also runs concurrent with B72, which it then follows up to its eastern terminus at the A1, which is also part of E 37. The road has a total length of 132 kilometres (82 mi), of which 41 kilometres (25 mi) in the Netherlands and 91 kilometres (57 mi) in Germany.
Rijksstraatweg or simply Straatweg was the term for paved roads of interregional significance in the Netherlands in the 19th and early 20th centuries. These roads were built by the national government, and formed the country's first centrally planned highway network. They received route numbers, eventually resulting in a nationwide network of 82 highways. It formed the basis for today's system of nationally controlled roads, the Netherlands' main highway grid.
The rijksweg N36 is a Dutch expressway, managed by Rijkswaterstaat between the N48 near Arriërveld and the A35 near Wierden, and hereby is an important north–south connection route in the province of Overijssel. The part of the road between the A35 and the N34 mainly consists of grade-separated crossings. The road also consists of separated lanes around Almelo, although it only has one lane in each direction. The total length of the N36 is approximately 36 kilometers.
Provincial road N377 is a Dutch provincial road between Hasselt, in the province of Overijssel, and Coevorden, in the province of Drenthe. Parts of the road are expressway, mainly in between the A28 and Slagharen. The road consists of 1x2 driving lanes, with an exception of 2x2 lanes in Nieuwleusen and Balkbrug. There are a few grade-separated crossings. The road has a length of 44 km.
European route E 22 (E 22) is a west–east European route, running from Holyhead in the United Kingdom, through the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden and Latvia, to Ishim in Russia.
European route E 35 (E 35) is a north–south European route, running from Amsterdam in the Netherlands to Rome in Italy. In the Netherlands, the highway runs from its northern terminus in Amsterdam eastwards through Utrecht and Arnhem to the German border, near Zevenaar. The road runs concurrently with three other motorways over its entire length, starting on Rijksweg 10 (A10) around Amsterdam, then A2 from southern Amsterdam up to Utrecht, and the last part on A12 until it reaches the German border in the east.
N33, or rijksweg 33, is an expressway in the provinces of Groningen and Drenthe in the Netherlands.
Provincial elections were held in the Netherlands on 20 March 2019. Eligible voters elected the members of the Provincial States in the twelve provinces of the Netherlands. The elections were held on the same day as the 2019 Dutch water boards elections and, in the Caribbean Netherlands, island council elections.
Strong Local Drenthe is a regionalist political party in the Netherlands, a partnership of various local political parties in the province of Drenthe. The party is represented in the Provincial Council in that province and is a member of Independent Politics Netherlands.
