The Philadelphia Soul can refer to one of two successive professional arena football teams in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They both have competed in the Arena Football League (AFL). The Soul made six ArenaBowl appearances, winning their first appearance and losing their next two appearances. The Soul won in their fourth appearance, against the Rattlers in 2016, winning 56–42. They also won in their fifth appearance in 2017 against the Tampa Bay Storm, winning 44–40 before losing in their sixth appearance in 2019 to the Albany Empire 45-27.
Aaron Garcia is a former professional American football quarterback who played 19 seasons in the Arena Football League (AFL), from 1995 to 2014. He played college football at Washington State University before transferring to California State University, Sacramento. Mark Richard Grieb is a former Arena football quarterback who spent the majority of his career with the San Jose SaberCats of the Arena Football League (AFL). Grieb currently serves as the head coach of the Sacred Heart Prep Gators football team in Atherton, California. He was a 13-year veteran of the AFL, having played quarterback for the Anaheim Piranhas (1997) and San Jose SaberCats. Grieb also played in NFL Europe for the Scottish Claymores (1998) and in the XFL with the Las Vegas Outlaws (2001). Grieb is the second quarterback in AFL history to throw for over 47,000 yards, over 900 touchdowns, over 3,800 completions, and over 10,000 pass attempts. He officially retired on November 8, 2012. He played college football at University of California, Davis. Grieb passed for 48,080 yards between the Arena League, XFL and NFL Europe.
Kareem Michael McKenzie is a former American football offensive tackle. As a member of the New York Giants, he won Super Bowl XLII and Super Bowl XLVI, twice against the New England Patriots.
Christopher Jackson is an American football coach and former wide receiver who is the wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator for The University of Texas. During the 2022 season, he was the wide receivers coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL). He previously served as an assistant coach for the Chicago Bears.
Marcus DeLando Nash is an American former professional football player who was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL). He was selected by the Denver Broncos 30th overall in the 1998 NFL draft. He played college football for the Tennessee Volunteers.
Matthew Louis D’Orazio is a former American football quarterback who played in the Arena Football League (AFL). He played college football at Otterbein College.
Idris Price is an American former football player who was a linebacker/fullback for the Orlando Predators, Philadelphia Soul and New York Dragons of the Arena Football League. He was also a member of the New York Jets, New England Patriots, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Frankfurt Galaxy. He won Super Bowl XXXVII as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Larry Brackins is a former American football wide receiver. He was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fifth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He played college football at Pearl River Community College. Brackins was also a member of the New York Jets, New York Sentinels, Philadelphia Soul, Dallas Vigilantes, Orlando Predators and Cleveland Gladiators.
James Beaumont "Beau" Bell is a former American football linebacker. He was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the fourth round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He played college football at UNLV. Bell was also a member of the Omaha Nighthawks, Las Vegas Locomotives, Spokane Shock, BC Lions, Los Angeles Kiss, and Philadelphia Soul.
Phil Bogle is a former American football guard and assistant head coach and general manager for the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League (AFL). He was signed by the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2003. He played college football at New Haven.
Kevin Guy is an arena football coach and former wide receiver and defensive back who is the head coach for the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League (IFL). He played his college football at the University of West Alabama, and was an AFL wide receiver and defensive back from 1996 to 1999. He has been a football coach since 2000, and first served as a head coach in 2000 as the interim head coach for the New Jersey Red Dogs. After being the defensive coordinator for the San Jose SaberCats from 2006 to 2007, he became the Rattlers head coach in 2008.
Brian P. Toal is a former American football linebacker. He was drafted by the Las Vegas Locomotives in the UFL premiere season draft in 2009. He played college football at Boston College.
Demetrice A. Webb is an American former professional football player who was a defensive back. Webb played college football for the University of Florida before playing professionally for the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL), the Philadelphia Soul of the AFL, and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL).
Nick Davila is a former arena football quarterback. A three-time AFL champion, and three-time MVP, he also played for the Arizona Rattlers from 2010 to 2016. Davila is of Mexican American descent. He is nicknamed the "Latin Laser". In 2017, he was the quarterbacks and wide receivers coach for the Rattlers of the Indoor Football League (IFL), who went on to win the 2017 United Bowl.
Jake Atlee James Metz is an American football defensive end who is currently a free agent. He played college football at Shippensburg. He played for the Soul from 2015 to 2016, winning ArenaBowl XXIX in 2016. He is currently the defensive lines coach for the Souderton Area High School's football team in Pennsylvania.
Dan Loney is a former American football offensive lineman who last played for the San Jose SaberCats of the Arena Football League. Loney attended Atascadero High School in Atascadero, California, where he played competitive football; he continued to play football at Cal Poly, starting for the Mustangs in the late 1990s and blocking for teammates including Kamil Loud, Antonio Warren, and Alli Abrew, among others. Upon graduating, he was not selected in the 2000 NFL Draft; as such, he signed with the San Jose SaberCats in early 2001.
George Roger Williams III is a former American football defensive lineman who last played for the San Jose SaberCats of the Arena Football League. Williams spent a total of seven seasons with the SaberCats; prior to this, he spent three years in the NFL.
Sean Daniels is a former American football defensive end. He played college football at Temple University.
