Randal "Thrill" Hill (born September 21, 1969) is an American former professional football player who was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) from 1991 through 1997. He played for the Miami Dolphins, Phoenix / Arizona Cardinals, and New Orleans Saints. After his playing career, Hill ran in the 2016 election for the United States House of Representatives in Florida's 24th congressional district .

Football career

Hill graduated from Miami Killian High School in Kendall, Florida, where he played for the school's American football team as a cornerback. He attended the University of Miami, and played college football for the Miami Hurricanes football team. At Miami, he became a wide receiver. [1] In his Hurricanes' career, Hill had 107 receptions for 1,643 yards with 11 touchdowns, and returned 54 kickoffs for an average of 21.6 yards per return. [2]

The Miami Dolphins selected Hill in the first round, with the 23rd overall selection, of the 1991 NFL draft. [3] [4] Hill missed four weeks of training camp in a contract dispute, before he signed with the Dolphins, reportedly for $2 million. After the first game of the 1991 season, with Dolphins coach Don Shula believing that Hill was not ready to play, the Dolphins traded Hill to the Phoenix Cardinals for a first round pick in the 1992 NFL draft. [5] Hill caught 43 passes for 495 yards and one touchdown in 1991, had 58 receptions for 861 yards in 1992, and recorded 35 receptions for 519 yards with four touchdowns in 1993. [6] He played with the Cardinals through the 1994 season, and then returned to Miami for the 1995 and 1996 seasons. He spent the 1997 season with the New Orleans Saints. He led the Saints with 55 receptions for 761 yards. He signed with the Chicago Bears for the 1998 season, [7] but did not make the team.

Career after football

After his football career ended, Hill worked for the Sunrise, Florida, police department and the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office. He then became an agent for United States Customs. [8] [9]

In July 2015, Hill declared that he would run in the Democratic Party primary election against incumbent U.S. Representative Frederica Wilson in the 2016 election to represent Florida's 24th congressional district in the House of Representatives. [8] Wilson defeated Hill. [10]

Personal life

Hill lives in Davie, Florida, with his wife, an internal medicine doctor. [8]

Earl Edwin Morrall was an American professional football player who was a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL) for 21 seasons, both a starter and reserve. He started for six teams, most notably with the Baltimore Colts and the Miami Dolphins. He became known as one of the greatest backup quarterbacks in NFL history, having served in the capacity for two Hall of Fame quarterbacks in Johnny Unitas and Bob Griese. An injury to Unitas in 1968 saw Morrall step in to start the season that saw the Colts to a 13–1 record that saw them win their first NFL Championship in nine years before ineffective play in Super Bowl III saw him benched for Unitas. Two years later, in Super Bowl V, Morrall came off the bench for an injured Unitas and kept the Colts in the game before they ultimately won on a last-second field goal. In his first season with Miami in 1972, he came off the bench when Griese became injured early in the year, with Morrall winning all nine starts; Morrall started the first two playoff games, with Griese playing in each game before being named the starter for Super Bowl VII, where the Dolphins completed the only perfect season in NFL history.

George William Wilson, Sr. was a professional football end and later a coach for the National Football League (NFL)'s Detroit Lions and the American Football League (AFL)'s Miami Dolphins. Wilson attended and played football at Northwestern University. He went undrafted in 1937, before being signed by the Chicago Bears. Wilson played for ten seasons with the Bears, compiling overall record of 111 pass receptions, 1,342 receiving yards, and fifteen touchdowns. He was a member of the Bears during their five appearances in the National Football League Championship Game from 1940–1943 and 1946. Additionally, he was selected for the NFL All-Star Game from 1940–1942. He also played one season of professional basketball for the Chicago Bruins in 1939–40. Wilson won seven championships combined as a player and coach.
